They are thinking of adding Gonzaga.

Article doesn’t mention football so I’m not sure how this works but it does help basketball with Kansas and Houston maintain a high level if it happens.

They don't have a football team so that's probably why it wasn't mentioned.

That is a huge upgrade for Gonzaga but kills WCC.

The B12 is the toughest basketball conference, No matter what Tobacco Road and all it’s bandwagon UNC and Duke fans want to say.

I like it. It doesn't add alot but it adds a specific brand in a specific sport. It's probably only a couple million in tv deals but it's money in our pockets

Imagine thinking a program that has made 7 straight S16's, 4 E8's, 2 FF's, and 2 NCG's in those 7 years, would have trouble competing in the B12. Lmao. I hope it happens. A conference with KU, Baylor, Houston and Gonzaga would be pretty incredible. Plus, you'd have other really solid programs in TTU, WVU, Oklahoma State, ISU, BYU, Cincy, TCU. Would make for an incredible league and top to bottom the best league year in and year out.

I agree with him. Gonzaga goes 33-2 every year and gets a cushion #1 seed in the tournament only to lose in either the Final Four or title game. Gonzaga has had some of their best teams of all time in the last 4-5 years and they can't get the job done in the tournament. But even those teams would probably fall to 28-6 or so if they played in the Big12.

Few sounds like he wants to go, but I wonder if that is just a public move, but behind the scenes he is making sure Gonzaga doesn't make the move. They got a good thing going right now. Big national brand, get to play far less competition, but their brand is so large now that even if they dont win the WCC they can and will get an invite. Gone are the years where you had to win the WCC to go to the tournament.

Nothing against Few and Gonzaga, the growth of that program in basketball is incredible, literally a basketball program built to dominance within the last 20ish years. Impressive, but them going to the Big12, I dont think they continue their dominance.

Bob Huggins says it would be a “huge awakening“ if Gonzaga joined the B12. Bob ain’t scared.

Yep. They'll fit right in and compete very well. Won't dominate the conference like they have, but they'll be fine competitively.

I think the Zags would be just like I said Oklahoma will be in the SEC. They won't have a bunch of conference titles like they did in the Big 12, but they won't be a doormat either. They'll be competitive as hell.

They would have trouble.. the current Big12 bball teams play real physical.. and it's a meat grinder.. there are no nights off.. Thinking the Zags would cruise is something...

One thing is for sure. Zags will struggle to put a decent football team out on the field

They're 9-2 against the league in the last 8 years. Not a huge sample size, but they also haven't benefitted from playing anyone in the bottom of the league. Their losses are to Baylor in the NCG in '21 and TTU in the E8 in '19.

Wins against:

ISU in '16/17(Big 12 Tournament Champ)
WVU in '17 NCAA Tournament S16
Texas in '17/18(NCAA Tournament participant)
Baylor in '19 NCAA Tournament R32
Kansas in '20/'21(3 seed in NCAA Tournament)
WVU in '20/'21(3 seed in NCAA Tournament)
Oklahoma in '21 NCAA Tournament R32
Texas in '21/'22(6 seed in NCAA Tournament)
TTU in '21/'22(3 seed in NCAA Tournament)

I'm not saying they would cruise. They would lose more games than they do now, but probably only 2/3 more, and given the huge uptick in SOS, would still be in position to get #1 seeds. KU lost 6 games this past season and was still a #1 seed.

If they go 28-6 in the Big 12 every year, they are going to be a #1 or #2 seed every year, which is basically what they've been the last decade. They wouldn't have as many wins because the competition would be greater, but it wouldn't change the outcome of the seed they would get.

Also, Gonzaga has 17 wins in the tournament the last 5 tournaments. I'm gonna guess that's the most in the country. Yes, they haven't won it all, but have certainly been extremely successful in the tournament.

Buddy, I don’t disagree with your comment that a team like Gonzaga likely would go something like 28-6 in a conference like the Big 12. But you know what 28-6 gets you when you play in the toughest conference in the entire country? It gets you a one seed just like it did for Baylor (26-6) and Kansas (28-6) last year. The committee will take strength of schedule into consideration as they dang well should.

Huggy Bear should probably keep his mouth shut and focus on his own team. Gonzaga is legit.

Huggy Bear is 0-5 against Gonzaga including 0-2 in the tournament at WVU. He probably isn't the best one to open his mouth. Lmao.

ACC? The B1G is 8-2 with 3 ties in the B1G/ACC challenge between the conferences in the last 13 years. Don't sleep on the B1G.

The B1G has been very good the last 4 years after being truly awful in the 2017-2018 season. Just haven't had success in the tournament. But, the B12 has been the best league the last 6/7 years. Both at the top and depth wise as well. They've finished #1 in KenPom 6 of the last 7 years. ACC was historically bad the last two seasons, despite the success in the tournament last season.

No doubt -- I was just messing with any ACC fans.
