I choose to fight

What happens if there is a 5 way tie on top of the PAC???

Real question.

UCLA beats USC and Cal
Oregon beats Utah
Oregon St beats Oregon
UW beats Colorado and WSU

Like when they eeked out that win against Northwestern?
Yeah, maybe a little different beings that Michigan will have no losses more than likely as Northwestern had 1 win.

Is this a serious question? First off, Oregon IS good, second, of course. I don't care how they get into the CFP, I want them in the CFP
So, this means that other teams falling are bad and miss the playoff so Oregon can make the playoff... Wait, didn't Oregon just do that? They lost, so they fell, so other teams can possibly make it. Oh, I think I get it now.

Oregon is "good" yes but they aren't elite caliber.

Getting blown out without much resistance by Georgia and losing a home game to Washington suggests that.

Along with how bad their defense is. 78th in scoring defense. 91st in total defense (127th in pass D!)

That shitty defense was by design. They were trying to get that Heisman for Nix......

Lol reminds me of Michigan fans claims that they purposeful game plan to keep their "best" defensive players from putting up big stat numbers.

First, I would've posted this yesterday, but after a groggy morning and logging in in the afternoon to see I had 55 damn notifications I decided to hit the "X" button. Yesterday was just not going to happen.

So, I am here today, after more than 24 hours after yet another PAC-12 officiaiting robbery, to offer my perspective and outlook on the rest of the Oregon Ducks football season. Because many may not be aware, after the AP and Coaches polls came out yesterday, they brought with them some rays of sunshines through the cloud.

The Ducks lost on Saturday and damn that pains me to type. But I refuse to give up on this team and this season just like I saw Oregon Ducks players REFUSE to give up on Saturday night. Bo Nix suffering an injury only to try and get back into the game and eventually getting back into the game was INSPIRATIONAL. Alex Forsyth, arguably our best Offensive Lineman and LEADER on the team REFUSED to give up and fight through injuries to where he couldn't even feel his arm and he is out there blocking. I tell you as I type this portion of my post, I have so much pride in this football team and program. They fought so hard and therefore I refuse to give up, just like they refused to give up.

The AP and Coaches polls left a door open, and although this season can still achieve great success like still winning the PAC-12 Championship and getting to the Rose Bowl, it wouldn't be the Oregon way to settle for such accomplishments. We want the 'ship. That's why you come to Oregon and be a Duck, to play in the College Football Playoffs and to WIN a national championship.

Let me roll out the following situation, mind you Oregon is as high as 12th in the country, with 2 teams ahead of them that they do and can still play;

1. Georgia wins out. Let's just give them that #1 spot, that means there are 3 coveted spots remaining. Let the chaos begin.

2. Illinois beats #3 Michigan. This can happen. In fact, I dont even see this that far fetched of an outcome. The Illini are a good team and capable of beating any B1G team, except maybe Ohio State. This gives Michgian 1 loss.

3. #4 TCU could easily lose any of their remaining games, especially the Big 12 championship game. This team is the biggest fraud in the top 10. Weak conference btw.

4. #2 Ohio State wins out and beats Michigan badly. With only Maryland and Michigan left, and a B1G title game, I see tOSU winning out, but they got to beat Michigan convincingly. That gives them the 2nd spot and now only 2 coveted spots remain in the CFP.

5. #5 Tennessee loses. Again, SEC schedule, anything can happen on any given Saturday.

6. #6 LSU of course loses to Georgia in the SEC title game. 3 loss team, GOOD BYE.

7. #9 Clemson has Miami (uggghh) South Carolina and UNC left. All possible losses for a shaky Clemson team. One more loss for Clemson and they are OUT.

8. #7 USC beats UCLA and wins out and gets a spot in the PAC-12 Championship game.

9. #12 Oregon wins out. It's that simple. Beats #10 Utah, beats #25 Oregon State, and will get a likely top 6-5 team in USC for the PAC-12 title game. Oregon beats USC and the above mentioned situations play out, and the Ducks are not out of this.

Go Ducks!

We've been looking for you!

Not to mention that after the catch his knee hit inbounds and there was :01 on the clock. The ref would have stopped the clock for the 1st down, but the clock would start as soon as the ref spots the ball.

That :01 would not have been enough time to get the ball snapped to kick a tying FG. That's saying Oregon even gets the FG unit trotted out there, because it's definitely not enough time to spike the ball and give them time.

They would have just called for another fake injury before the chains moved and got the free clock stoppage again.
It'll come. My first thoughts on the Utah game is it is at home, it's a revenge game, and the Ducks are going to be a bit upset with how this weekend turned out. Double revenge game. Plus, Oregon is favored in this game, I think they opened at -3.5 point favorites?
Might point out to Lanning that playing the UW fight song on a loop during practice didn't help them win. All it did was make it easier for them to hear it live after the game. :becky:

Trolls will troll, but look at that above mentioned outline and tell me there isn't a path
There isn't a path. I love Lanning, so I have nothing against you. The problem is that you didn't paint just 1 unlikely thing that needs to happen. You laid out a half dozen. It's more likely that none of those will happen, and there certainly is no chance that they will all happen which is what is required of you.

Your best bet is to realize that you simply aren't elite yet, and that it what you have to be to win the natty today. I'd be excited if I were you that Lanning has done a great job this year, is recruiting well (#1 in the PAC), and that they 12 team CFP is just around the corner. Your team would be in that CFP, but not the 4 team CFP with 2 losses, one being a bad loss.

Notice no one is actually addressing the path.
It's an absurd path:

2. Illinois beats #3 Michigan. Illinois just lost 3 in a row to teams vastly inferior to UM, and it's a home game for UM.

3. #4 TCU could easily lose any of their remaining games, especially the Big 12 championship game. This team is the biggest fraud in the top 10. Weak conference btw. I don't know if they are a fraud, but they have 2 fewer losses than you do, and their conference doesn't seem any weaker than yours. Them dropping a game might well be the least crazy thing you have listed here. That said, they still have 1 less loss than you.

4. #2 Ohio State wins out and beats Michigan badly. With only Maryland and Michigan left, and a B1G title game, I see tOSU winning out, but they got to beat Michigan convincingly. This seems likely, but UM did beat them last year. Is the forecast for snow?

5. #5 Tennessee loses. Again, SEC schedule, anything can happen on any given Saturday. No, not against USCjr and Vandy. If they had 2 tough games, ok. Not USCjr and Vandy.

6. #6 LSU of course loses to Georgia in the SEC title game. 3 loss team, GOOD BYE. This is most likely top happen.

7. #9 Clemson has Miami (uggghh) South Carolina and UNC left. All possible losses for a shaky Clemson team. One more loss for Clemson and they are OUT. But you forgot UNC. UNC wins out they are in, and you aren't.

8. #7 USC beats UCLA and wins out and gets a spot in the PAC-12 Championship game. That could be, but if they do that they likely spank you guys.

9. #12 Oregon wins out. It's that simple. Beats #10 Utah, beats #25 Oregon State, and will get a likely top 6-5 team in USC for the PAC-12 title game. Oregon beats USC and the above mentioned situations play out, and the Ducks are not out of this. Simple ... to beat 3 top 25 teams? Even then you need a lot of help.

Losing sucks but it's probably a good thing because Oregon was liable to get embarrassed again in the playoff if they managed to make it. That defense is just too bad to compete with any of the elite teams.

OD calling other conferences weak. OD complaining about officiating. Oh the IRONY!

Lanning is a complete moron for going for it on 4th and 1 where they were with the backup QB. You absolutely punt there. Maybe Washington still wins but they at least have to work for it more.
It was the right call. I remember in 2013 Helfrich #12 UCLA came into Autzen and was stone walling us early on, we were down early 7-0 and their defense was getting into the backfield. With about 10 minutes left in the 1st quarter, down 7-0, it was 4th and long on our own 25 and Helfrich dialed up a fake punt, picked up like 63 yards. We didn't look back after that and ended up winnnig big.

He probably thinks Oregon's defense is actually good. The stats just look bad because they play in the Pac 12!
The Duck defense is good. We have arguably the best LB core in the country with Sewell, Bassa, and Flowe. They cause turnovers and maybe most importantly when it comes to Red Zone defense, they are one of the best.

Spot on accurate

127/131 in pass defense

78th in scoring defense.

But yes.....good. lol.
