Post the video of him getting pushed out by contact. Therefore legal catch.

That's not definitive. The defender had that sideline cut off and the receiver opted to try and go around him instead of cutting infield.
How he went out of bounds is also not reviewable. Just that he went out of bounds is reviewable.

Again... We go back to regardless of whether he went out of bounds, was pushed out of bounds, or any other scenario. After the catch his knee was down inbounds with :01 on the clock.

The clock stops for the first down, but starts the moment the ref spots the ball.

:01 is not enough time to spike it and get the FG unit out there to attempt to tie it.

Going by your scenario, here is how I would expect a 12 team playoff in the proposed format to be

Champs

Georgia (13-0) - SEC
Ohio State (13-0) - B1G
North Carolina (12-1) - ACC
Oregon (11-2) - Pac 12
Kansas State (10-3) - Big 12
UCF (11-2) - AAC

At Large

TCU (11-2)
Tennessee (10-2)
Alabama (10-2)
Michigan (10-2)
Ole Miss (10-2)
USC (11-2)

Seeds

#1 Georgia
#2 Ohio State
#3 North Carolina
#4 Oregon

Top 4 seeds are highest 4 conference champions in the 12-team playoffs that is proposed, not necessarily the case in today's 4-team playoffs.

#5 TCU vs #12 UCF winner faces Oregon
#6 Tennessee vs #11 Kansas State - winner faces North Carolina
#7 Alabama vs #10 USC - winner faces Ohio State
#8 Michigan vs #9 Ole Miss - winner faces Georgia

@OregonDucks In that scenario, I would think the Committee still puts an SEC team (probably Tennessee) in instead of Oregon with 4 team playoffs.

Lanning is a complete moron for going for it on 4th and 1 where they were with the backup QB. You absolutely punt there. Maybe Washington still wins but they at least have to work for it more.
I tend to agree but you can also rationalize the risk:reward ratio there. And the only reason we're discussing it is because it didn't work. That said, even looking in the rearview mirror, it was a mistake.

I think with the circumstances the risk was too high. If the backup QB had played a good chunk of the game. Fine, but that was what his 2nd or 3rd snap? much too cold for the execution to be sure fire.

Not necessarily. If Lanning has no faith in his D, going for it there at least allows them to get the ball back with some time on the clock. i would have punted but I can see why he didn't.
