GAME #5 Tennessee at South Carolina 6:00 ESPN

I love this kind of field storming

Nah, Vandy is win 10 and UT is still WAAYYY ahead of schedule as far as progress under JH.

The defense sucks but winning 10 is a big year big picture.

Now bowl game however with these older player thinking draft stock .... that could be ugly
Y’all keep saying you are way ahead in year 2, but you lose everyone this year and your recruiting is not elite. Yes, you had a great year but I’m not seeing you building a program up and closing the gap. Tell me what you mean you are way ahead.

He has one more year and he is the only man in the world that can overthrow Russia but if the WR recruitment/development continues they will be able to hide some of that. Its a reset year next year for sure but good pieces in place and the identity is there. IMO this team/program is going to look like the Oklahoma teams that we've seen recently, fun/electric offenses and softer defenses, not all will be THIS bad (at least I hope not) and hopefully being in the SEC can help get a little better defensive players than OU has had and be better but, we'll see. Offense is going to be fine either way imho.
He is such a frustrating QB. He has a NFL body, a NFL arm, but doesn't have it between the ears against teams that can disguise coverages and he will make a throw one second that only he can make, then make a half dozen throws where you want to scream.

Best of luck to you guys. Keep it going. Hope Hooker is ok.

He looks terrible, only guy that looks worse is Bielema, only guy that looks worse than Bielema was Mangini

You would think covid would scare all the fatties healthy but I guess not.

What a day of near misses for upsets, and then the Vols top it off with a beatdown from USC.

One of the better days of college ball from start to finish (go Utah) I can recall.

With what JH walked into with the transfers and rumors of NCAA penalties ect. when he got to UT not even the biggest Tennessee fan would have predicted
1. A bowl appearance in year 1 and then
2. A 10 win season year 2 with
a top 15- 20 recruiting class year 1 and

top 10-20 class year two.

Will UT hit the portal again for certain positions? :noidea:Gotta figure they will as everyone does.

How many starters/stars leave early? :noidea:several COULD but.. who really knows, several could be back too.

Hendon Hooker has had a fine couple of seasons but let's not forget, the guy was a borderline starter on some pretty tame VT teams and 3-4 star recruit out of HS. He has had some great moments, but he has also looked pretty average at times, particularly running the ball, there have been some plays where bigger gains were to be had but he just didn't have the speed/skill to get em. The offense imo has even more in it than we've seen this year.

How will JH and staff do with a "big time" QB recruit? Gotta figure at least pretty good if not great, anything can happen and kids flop as many times as they thrive, but the system is definitely reason for high hopes.

End of the day, UT is in a much better place than most figured it would be at this point when JH was named head coach, we are playing with house money already and the sky is the limit with this brand, that's with all due respect to UGA/UF/Bama, it aint like yall are going anywhere, it's just that UT looks like they will be in the mix (at long last) as well.

At this rate, I am worried about Vanderbilt. The defense was more than bad, it looked like they quit. Rumors of locker room drama.

It isn't Hooker, it is the defense improving that will give me confidence. Recruiting isn't as good as I want it but we are bringing in better defensive players, especially in the secondary. 2023 may not be fun but we could be building for a run in 2024.

Is this the largest upset ever? Tennessee was favored by 22 and lost by 25. That's a hell of a swing.

Ohio State was favored by 20.5 against Iowa and lost 55-24 in 2017.

I would still go with Stanford over USC or App State over Michigan as the biggest ever though.

100% the defense is the issue with this years team, has been all year even in big wins, the offense has been fantastic. There has never been that “comfortable” feel with this defense, just too inconsistent and at times very poor technique as far as lack of wrapping people up and being in the right place.
TBH I’ve expected one of these kind of performances from this defense a few different games this year but I think being at home has helped avoid it but it did finally happen, just puked all over their shoes.
