Considering my options for the new TV in the basement. I'm not trying to cut the cord per se for now. I still have cable for now. I'm basically planning on using my cable service to log in and access the streaming channels, instead of paying another monthly fee for a box from Comcast.

Currently have/had all the streamers, use a Roku box in the living room, Roku stick in the guest bedroom and Fire Stick(it wasn't mine...) in the master.

Roku > Fire Stick > Apple TV

The Fire Stick UI/UX is pretty meh. Roku is clean and quick.

(Straight up returned the 4k Apple TV due to how slow and shitty the streaming was)

I have Roku on all my tvs and I like them.

but you can't get HBO Max on Roku...so if you have/want that channel, you should maybe get the firestick?

why didn't you just buy a smart tv?

at one time, i used a roku. it worked pretty well. now we use apple tv

My fire stick can be a little laggy at times when going through menus.

Yeah- this. If you're getting a new tv, just make sure it's a smart one and you have all that crap built in, right?

Because the TV was given to me.

Can you mirror to a Roku? I can just cast HBO from my phone/tablet if it will mirror.

I was thinking about the Fire Stick at first, then saw a Roku at half the cost.

OK, thinking this bad boy will do just about everything I need.

I've gone all Firestick with my setup sans smart TV but the Roku is just fine. The firestick has more pirating options but I'm not one to really dig in to all that.

And HBO max isn't on the firestick either.

This is tru. Rooting a fire stick does have it's benefits, but if you don't care about that shit...ROKU BITCH

Please explain. I had decided roku for when I get to florida (I get internet down there) but this idea of stealing something intrigues me.

I'm sure someone can explain it much better than me but basically there are a lot of different aps that can allow you to stream new movies, tv, sports etc. Like I've said I've only dabbled a little. I'm content with the cable, firestick, netflix, amazon combo.

Sideload shit onto the device to unlock jailbroken apps that provide free content.

Never done it, since fuck Amazon but it's pretty easy I guess.

LOL @ you guys.

Amazon = bad
stealing shit = fucking amazing, how do I do it?
I never said amazon was bad, I buy a lot of stuff on amazon.

@Shanemansj13 can explain the "jailbreak" on the firestick.

I did it previously, and it worked great. Was able to stream live sports and watch any TV show or movie that already made it to streaming. But if you don't hire someone to do it for you, it requires maintenance upkeep to keep everything running smooth. Mine eventually became too slow, and I haven't bothered searching for what apps to use now.

If you do this (and live in a 1st world country), I would get a VPN.
