We already have a weak recruiting class in 2023 -- think it sits like 21st, but has 0 top 100 recruits. The 2nd highest ranked recruit in our 2023 class a DE from California just de-committed and flipped to Miami.

Our admins need to get their head out of their ass and start pushing NIL or UM is going to be left behind. We already can't use the transfer portal. You'd think after going to the CFP and winning the B1G last year, couple with their run this year, we'd see a jump in recruiting -- yet the opposite is happening.

i think you’re overreacting a bit. Our offensive line this year was in part this good because of the transfer portal and that kid from Virginia. The 2023 class is perfectly salvageable but obviously not the best because of Harbaughs NFL thing in the winter last year. And the 2024 class is projected to be one of our best all time.

And this current team is young. JJ and corum have two years of eligibility left. Edwards has 3. (Not that everyone will stay and not go to the nfl)

Point being it takes a second for winning to translate into recruiting success. Especially when you lose both coordinators and your coach tries to get and NFL job.

It seems odd to say we can't use the transfer portal while ignoring the NFL player we got on the transfer portal that's been super helpful to our success this year....

Most of our starting roster has 2/3 years of eligibility left. And it seems very likely that we'll have JJ and Edwards for at least one, possible two, more seasons.

Yes, losing a 4 star in this class hurt more than usual (but we typically lose some in every class, I think that's pretty normal). But we're also favored for 3-4 more four star kids in the right now, (Spencer Fano, Jyaire Hill, Taliafi Taala) and we're favored for 5 star Nyckoles Harbor. Harbaugh has also pulled some surprise kids in the past few classes at the last minute.....So this class, again, is very salvageable.
Yes, it sucks that it has to be salvaged but it is what it is. I expect Michigan to end up somewhere around 15 in the rankings, maybe higher if we do something crazy like win a national championship. I think we'll finish with a pretty typical 9-10 four stars, hopefully a five star and a bunch of three stars. Which seems to be about our average class.

I think you're also forgetting that last year's top 10 class are just freshman. If we can pair last year's class with another top 10 class next year, this class finishing outside the top 10 shouldn't be a big deal at all.

I realize newfound success is tough to handle. Ohio State fans are experiencing real loss now and we are experiencing what it feels like to defeat your rival and own the division - being afraid of our new power is understandable.

But try to stay positive. I don’t think Ryan Day is beating Jim Harbaugh assuming both are still coaching these programs next year.

Anyone who follows CFB knows your star players are gone after year 3 -- using the graphic you put up and counting Covid years, means OSU has essentially their whole team coming back too. The only players without eligibility would be grad transfers.

I mean, that's fine. That means we have a least one year left with a lot of them. And with last year's class, combined with a great class next year, we should be fine to find new ones.

Part of what made me excited about winning last year is, I thought we'd see a big bump in recruiting. To do it all over again this year and have so little high level recruits sucks.

I really hope we have a run late, but we aren't even in on majority of the top guys. Harbor is it and the only crystal balls put in for his recruiting are all on South Carolina. We had a commitment from Raylen Wilson who was 50th overall, but he swapped out over to Georgia.

It is fine with OSU, but unless UM shows me something different if we face Georgia, it seems like it will be much of the same.

But that's the first step in this. Michigan hasn't been getting hyper-elite classes, outside of maybe 1-2 instances, in the recruiting era. We had to win first. And two back to back playoff appearances should very much cement that so long as Harbaugh stops the NFL flirtation for good. We've been sending kids to the NFL at excellent rates and now we're also winning on the field. Doesn't take much to turn a class like this year's into a class with 2-3 five star kids in it. But we had to win first.

Oh, and not to mention, the 12 team playoff changes everything. Right now Harbaugh has been to the 4 team playoff in 25% of his seasons at Michigan (as hard as that is to believe), and in a 12 team format we're probably in the playoff 5/8 seasons at Michigan.
