It's actually very likely we get Morris back on defense. That's basically a month from now, plenty of time to heal up.Michigan gets the most favorable matchup in the Semi-final, facing TCU and we get to watch Georgia hammer Ohio State. It couldn't set up any better.
Most know my thoughts -- I think Georgia rolls all three of the teams in the CFP. Michigan is the one team who plays most like Georgia, but as I've described Georgia on here -- they are Michigan, but on steroids.
I'm glad Michigan will get a game against a team they should be favored against, even without our best player on offense and defense. But I think I will enjoy the Georgia Ohio State game just as much, as I think Georgia beats OSU worse than Michigan did.
I honestly don't know what to think about TCU, I'm having a hard time judging them. I could make the argument that the game will go a number of different ways. The opening lines are ridiculous.
I'll take TCU +9.5 and Georgia -6.5.
Insane.
As easily as you want to say Alabama could be undefeated, they also could easily be 7-5. Texas got jobbed, Ole Miss legitimately blew it and A&M had a better then decent chance to upend them too. This goes both ways.Just looked at the computer rankings and Alabama is #3. Of course that means nothing when everyone has penis envy toward the Tide. "It isn't fair; they win too much". So they have to stay out of the CFP after losing twice on the last play of the game on the road. If it weren't for two plays Alabama would be #1 or #2. Maybe I was wrong after all. Gimme a huge ass playoff if it allows a team like Alabama to keep playing for the NC instead of this year's feel good story from Ft. Worth who has barely survived all season with a horse shoe up their ass until it fell out against a national power like Kansas State. Or getting to see Ohio State get in when it was already roaded a couple of weeks ago by another team in the playoff.![]()
And Texas lost Ewers after the 1st Quarter against Bama too, after he threw for almost 150 yards on them in the 1st quarter. As easily as you want to say Alabama could be undefeated, they also could easily be 7-5. Texas got jobbed, Ole Miss legitimately blew it and A&M had a better then decent chance to upend them too. This goes both ways.
Now that's funny. I used to brag about my Miners being the only school in Texas with a natty in Men's basketball. Can't do that anymore since Baylor won the second a couple of years ago. Still, neither of our almighty/so called "Flagship" schools have one.
That's been the exact reason I've advocated against the old AP voting method, the BCS and even the CFP. I don't care if some teams are considered "unworthy" for getting in. IMHO it is better to let several in that may not belong than keeping some out that do belong. Let 'em decide in on a playoff field instead of "voting" on them in some sort of fashion. Sure, the limit has to happen somewhere, but I'd like to see Bama, Clemson, Tennessee, K-State, Penn State, Oregon, Washington, USC, etc play if off. So what if some of them get killled in a first or second round game.Just looked at the computer rankings and Alabama is #3. Of course that means nothing when everyone has penis envy toward the Tide. They have 13 games for you to look at to assist you in judging them.I honestly don't know what to think about TCU, I'm having a hard time judging them. I could make the argument that the game will go a number of different ways.
This past weekend was the first time I watched a TCU game all year. All I nkow is that most of their games have been close and they've had a few scares all year, before losing the CCG.They have 13 games for you to look at to assist you in judging them.
That said, you'll beat 'em by 100 because they play in the Big 12 and didn't even win that G5 level conference. They have no chance against a B1G champion. They don't belong in the CFP. They're a small private school. Their offense can't run the ball, can't throw it or catch it. Their defense is like a screen door on a submarine. Can't stop the run or the pass. Their special teams can't field a punt or cover a punt of kick off. They CAN run the field goal team on very quickly and make a field goal o win the game. They do have that going for them so Michigan might need to prepare for that.
They did beat the mighty B1G champion 12 years ago when they were a member of a real G5 conference. They didn't belong in that game either.
I watched 7-8 of their games this year. I'd say their performance Saturday was just about average for them. Maybe a little less than average because they turned it over a little more and blew a few more assignments than usual. But they played better in some games and worse in others so it was still a pretty good example of their season. This past weekend was the first time I watched a TCU game all year. And TCU could/should have lost 4 close games. So what's your point? What do you think the spread would be if Alabama was playing TCU on a neutral field? There's your answer for which team is better. I would have put Bama in before Ohio State too.As easily as you want to say Alabama could be undefeated, they also could easily be 7-5. What’s your case for Bama over Tennessee, or do games just not matter since Tennessee has the same record as Bama, a win over Bama and a dominant road win over the other team that beat BamaAnd TCU could/should have lost 4 close games. Tennessee would also be a better choice than Ohio State. If TN got in over Alabama it would have been a fair selection too. It just pi$$es me off that so many people get upset at the thought of "too many SEC teams in the playoff". This f'n country is eaten up with entitlement and social justice and equal outcomes instead of basing things on merit. The best teams are in the SEC. Why shouldn't the playoff be heavy with SEC teams? The idea that everyone else should just get better if they don't like it seems to escape too many of these snowflakes. Oklahoma might get its doors blown off in the SEC but at least we aren't standing around whining about the unfairness of those teams always being too highly ranked. /rant offWhat’s your case for Bama over Tennessee, or do games just not matter since Tennessee has the same record as Bama, a win over Bama and a dominant road win over the other team that beat Bama
Not sure this is a good one to use GB. I know using common opponents isn't foolproof, but TCU handled the rusty cows much easier than Bama did. So Vegas may have the red elephants as a favorite, I'm not so sure they'd win it on a neutral field. And TCU could/should have lost 4 close games. So what's your point? People are acting like this year's Bama team is right on par with all of Saban's other great ones when honestly, it wasn't that good of a team. Beating Texas without Ewers for most of the game isn't a very impressive win, especially because it was only by 1 on a last second FG. Barely escaping a really bad A&M team was also a bad look. What's worse is seeing LSU get smoked by that same bad A&M team. Outside of UGA, the SEC just wasn't what it normally is, and even they had some awful-looking games this year. Not sure this is a good one to use GB. Bama and Texas both got too much credit for that early season game IMO. Everyone assumed Bama was their usual self and by association Texas was nearly in Bama's realm as well. It was partially fool's gold. Bama still turned out to be pretty good and Texas was improved this year as well. But neither turned out to be as good as what was perceived at that time.
The play calling lost them the game, entirely. Their QB was their #1 rusher all game, and then at the goal line they rush the RB up the middle twice? Huh?I watched 7-8 of their games this year. I'd say their performance Saturday was just about average for them. Maybe a little less than average because they turned it over a little more and blew a few more assignments than usual. What was worse in that game was their play calling IMO. Garrett looked too much like Lincoln in his play calling to me. But I don't think K-State's was very good at times either. Questioning and criticizing coaches is what recliner coaches like me do.
We go by resume, not who we think will win. If that’s the case get Michigan out of there because bama would be favored against them. Thats my point. And TCU could/should have lost 4 close games.
