Mike Leach

Leach is unique. Lady I graduated from high school with was the football secretary at Tech for years. She said Leach and Dykes were two of the nicest and funniest guys she's ever been around.

Prayers for the pirate and his family.

This does not sound good. From what I’ve read people have been saying he did not sound or look good for the past several weeks

Yeah, based on all the insider posts I can dig up, he's not expected to make it to tomorrow. Just a matter of letting people say their goodbyes now. :(

So sad. I rarely give a shit about deaths of people I've never met. I genuinely liked him, and even started a thread about him a while back. Really kind of genuinely sad right now.

He's a unique coach and character that you don't see much of anymore. Everyone is so focused on the brand of the program for various reasons, but he just always did his own thing. His interviews were a perfect example. 9 out of 10 coaches will give you the same type of corporate coach speak. Leach would go on a rant about something completely unrelated to football. Definitely a beat of his own drum kinda guy

I loved his press conferences and interviews in general. Someone asked him about cookies one day, and he had his top 5 cookies ready to go. Just a cool funny guy, and an innovator that probably never got a shot at a "top" program, for no other reason, than refusing to be anything but unapologetically himself.

As far as Coach's condition goes, I am told he is stable. That is not to say he's doing well. He's not. The family will have to make some difficult decisions in the days ahead and that could actually come to a head on Monday. I simply don't know their feelings. My heart breaks for all involved. I do know that they need all of us. We must come together as a family in this difficult time. As concerned as we are about football, their entire lives are changing. We must be sensitive to that and support them all we can.
