I’m hearing that the status hasn’t changed. Basically like before his family is saying their goodbyes and he is on life support

I wish I had better news, but I’m told UMMC has transitioned into comfort care measures for Coach Mike Leach. It’s essentially hospice care at this point.

I’m told he’s been largely if not totally nonresponsive since the cardiac event yesterday morning.

It appears to simply be a matter of time now. It all seems so unfair. Life is fleeting. Tell those you love how much you love them. Forgive, forgive, forgive.

We will not be working to break the final story. We will respect the family’s timing on all of that. Yes, we have a story ready to roll, but we will now await the official and unfortunate word from the University.

I can’t believe we’re even having these discussions. It’s so surreal. He isn’t just our football coach. He’s Mike Leach, a national treasure. I’m honored to say he was our coach for three seasons. It’s also nice to remember that he’s going out a winner.

Please remember his family, our coaches and players in your thoughts and prayers.

Now I’m tearing up in the airport. Man that’s so hard to believe. And what a special guy that could make someone like me who has only really watched him coach (not even for my team) and watched his press conferences.

Sounds a lot like when Carrie Fisher died. She had a massive heart attack on a plane and never really woke up from it. Took too long to get to a hospital to do anything and was basically brain dead

Like most people, the college sports of your childhood attract you to the school when the time comes.
That dude and his bar napkin play sheet and wacky ass plays got me into Tech when everyone else was UT and Aggie fans. Just slanging it with Kliff Kingsbury.
Went to tech, met my wife, and now have a daughter. Who knows if that would have happened without leach getting me into to Tech.
 
This is so devastating I can’t bring myself to go online and look to see who was committed to Miss State that we could steal.

No other SEC coach would make me even hesitate so that says a lot about the man.

Football doesn’t matter at this point. That will all workout in the end even though they lose a great coach and more importantly a great and lovable man.
 
this reminds me of Skip Prosser

men's basketball coach at Wake Forest during the 2000s. coached Josh Howard, Chris Paul, recruited Jeff Teague

massive heart attack while he was jogging in July. He died and the program never really recovered from it.
