Ohio State out bid for 5 star recruit.........................

As for your bagman comment, read better. I stated clearly that we were in the bagman business, just like you guys and eveyone else was. I'm neither stupid nor naïve.

Think about how ridiculous this statement is. You completely contradict yourself. So Georgia was in the bag man business pre-NIL, but now when legalized, they have turned their back to it? Or are you insinuating, Georgia never bought a recruit in the past and only paid recruits if they earned it on the field or better yet -- the bag man paid EVERY recruit, because as you said, you paid one, you had to pay them all.

Come on now -- I thought you said you weren't naive. Yet you have convinced yourself a 5 star recruit coming from nothing, many in single parent households barely keeping their head above water -- they are turning down 6 and 7 figures upfront for the chance to go to Georgia? And you truly believe that? If that is the case...............all I can say is WOW.

Michigan administration is stuck in the stone age -- they still think our academic standing and national brand is enough to sell kids. Today -- if you aren't guaranteeing some sort of $$$ -- these top kids aren't coming to your school. Dante Moore was a given to be at UM, Cass Tech is a feeder program to UM, we've recruited the kid for 6 years, yet he is committed to Oregon, because Oregon gave him a 1.5 million offer.
Really ...

You have reading comprehension problems. Re-read what I posted, as it makes total sense, and refutes several of the idiotic things you just said. I won't repeat what I have clearly stated. If it doesn't make sense to you, that's on you.

Really ...

Yes. It was reported here long before he even committed to Oregon that he had the 1.5 million offer. The kid grew up 15 minutes from my house -- he lives in an area you will get pulled over by the cops, just for being white. He grew up a Michigan fan. Dante Moore's dad has a tattoo of Michigan peeing on OSU.

He went to Oregon because of the money offered to him and I don't blame him one bit, because Michigan won't do it. We will find out soon how fast we fall behind.

There is all kinds of tampering and shit going on but there's no way to prove it short of some recruit getting texts or voice mails from someone involved directly with the school laying this shit out and turning them over to the NCAA.

There's really no way to enforce these rules. It's essentially the wild west.
They've been neutered. They can't do shit anymore.

Except punish Cleveland State when North Carolina breaks a rule.

I just read that ATM has 25 players in the portal. We likely are going to get one of them. But you can't tell me that throwing all that money at unproven players, or saying you will but didn't, didn't fuck up their culture. It most certainly did. Smart teams, and teams that can afford to not play the game, are going to come out ahead.
Come on you old hairy dawg. You're an attorney. You backhandedly implied Jimbo was smart prior to NIL. Did you mean to?

Lol yea I joke that Kent State would get hammered for buying a kid a big mac before he entered the transfer portal to go there but Auburn could hand a kid directly 100K to jump ship to there and it would be "nothing to see here" But that likely would be a real world result.

If you truly think these 5 star recruits are signing with Georgia without any guarantees because of "the culture", then I'm guessing you also think Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny are real.

Common sense would tell you otherwise. Many of these kids are beyond poor and their only out is football. The NFL isn't guaranteed to ANYONE. They are not turning down life changing money to sign up for "the culture" of any program.

FWIW, this is a quote (redacted a bit) that was posted by an "insider" on one of the UGA boards.

Two forces here. One, Kirby isn't buying kids like some, and so far its' worked. Will see if we "play ball" but remember when you do, you have 84 others staring at you.

The point is that Smart will ultimately do whatever needs to be done. But for now, we are going conservative to maintain the culture, and so far, it's worked. My guess is that this approach will be the long-term successful play. Paying high school kids that haven't done a damn thing is stupid on so many fronts that only desperate teams are doing it.

We will have the no. 2 class this year, even having missed on some high-end recruits who wanted money upfront (and, to clear, we missed others who just wanted to go elsewhere).
Well, schools have been giving "high school kids that haven't done a damn thing" full scholarships for many years. While not "paying" per se, they've been willing to risk the cost of scholarships on their high school performance.

Found this on another board. Sums up what I've been saying.

NIL and recruiting is really going to make CFB crazy until things settle over the next few years. You take an 18-year-old kid 5 star with elite talent who has no money and stuff a million bucks in his back pocket and that can cause some major issues for the player and culture within a program. Developing great high level SEC players and winning championships requires not only natural talent but hard work, competition among teammates, and a great team culture. Dropping a money bomb on a kid can damage his work ethic and create culture issues, envy, etc.

What if you have a few 5 stars arriving on a team with fancy new cars and big bank accounts who suddenly have to work and compete on a team? What if some of these five stars are unable to beat out a hard working 3- or 4-star kid already on the team that's performing at a high level? Now you have a transfer portal, too, that all these kids have access to.

It is easy to see a scenario where a 4-star sophomore starter and team player that's working his butt off and is headed for a potential all-SEC type season may be receiving a tiny fraction of NIL money that this new elite "lazy" 5-star freshman competitor for the same position is getting. Use your imagination for what this can potentially do to both team culture and individual work ethic. I think Texas A&M is the first example.

This was obvious from the get-go, and it's why some programs have been more conservative with their approach.

these "NIL deals" are inflated or just flat out lies. It's the calling card for anyone who doesn't choose their school of choice. Perfect example is Caleb Williams.. people said he got a multi million dollar deal when that's false. Don't get me wrong he's making good money $120-$150k per season (this and next).. and $75k towards the charity of his choice. His Beats deal and whatever else he gets is part of that.

Thought the biggest joke was that fiction about Peyton Bowen being paid 2 mil.. to go to Oregon or ou matching it (LOL).

Collectives are the only sure thing, because the money is already there waiting on the players. Players are catching up to the ones who are telling you promises but don't come through with what was agreed

Re-read and try again.
They made a decision to dedicate the NIL to players who were at UGA and earned it. They aren't going to play the "pay to play" game

This is a direct quote from you.

Dude ... last time, I am not going to engage with you. I laid out what I think, but you either didn't read it or you can't understand it. That's cool.

You don't have to engage. Here is the conversation to help you out.

If you truly think these 5 star recruits are signing with Georgia without any guarantees because of "the culture", then I'm guessing you also think Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny are real.

Then you said to re-read it. So I did, which is where I got this quote FROM YOU.

You truly think these superstar 17 and 18 year old inner city kids who see football as their way out are turning down guaranteed NIL money so they can go be a part of "georgia's culture" and the possibility of getting some NIL deals if they earn it. It is tough to even type that out with a straight face.

It is your story though -- so more power to you. I will tell you right now, there isn't a chance in hell that is what is happening though.

Judging by the economy I’d say deflated.
