


CFB was so popular the money had to escalate. And it did. Very quickly. And along with it came what we have.
Television found a way to make more money from it. In doing so they had to pay schools/conference more as well and the bidding kept going up. Likewise coaching salaries went up as well as facility improvement, yada, yada, yada. And schools wanted more so changing conferences was a boost. It was just a matter of time before players said "Hey, what about us? If there is enough money to pay coaches that much money, why don't we get a piece of the pie."
Sooooooooooooooooo, money drove this and that is something we just have to live with. Nobody wants less of it.
I do think television is going to have to give a little regarding time slots if the on site game day experience is going to be preserved.
