2023 Recruiting Thread

From what I understand it's about him wanting to go to Nebraska. They got that idiotic drunk Frost out so Rhule must've put on the full court press. OSU is gonna have three fantastic QBs on the roster next year and Ryan Montgomery is likely coming in 2025.
Fantastic aye?

Fantastic aye?

I mean 2 are highly rated former recruits and the 3rd is a fast rising prospect.

Sure you can say there is no "sure thing" but is Raiola a sure thing either? He's just a recruit too currently.

The Cupboard is definitely far from empty.

Dante Moore flipping from Oregon to UCLA I hear.

oh yeah.. I'd be pumped up for a QB from South Dakota.. people don't understand those Reservation DAWGS.. they remind me of those kids from Muck City who catch rabbits by hand.

They still have a year to recruit another QB for 2024. Not like we got Dante Moore'd like Oregon and the kid flipped 2 days before signing day.

Bama is going to make ATM's class last year look pedestrian. And it's properly balanced - not 13 DL. They will also land Russaw and Smith, two high 4*.

Weds will be kind of boring barring a bunch of flips. Of the top 100 on Rivals, all but 11 are committed. Those not committed are heavy leans to 1 or 2 teams:

5*
Damon Wilson/SDE - UGA
Matayo Uigalelei/WDE - USC
Desmond Ricks/CB - LSU
Nicholas Harbor/ATH - USCjr
Duce Robinson/TE - Feb signee - USC/UGA, maybe others

4*
Jaquavious Russaw/ILB - Bama
James Smith/DT - Bama
Jordan Hall/DT - UGA
Malachi Coleman/ATH - Neb
Walker Lyons/TE - sign this year, 2 year mission
Rodrick Pleasant/CB - USC

FWIW - Composite top 100 breakdown:

- Blow me, Bama! For all those that said Bama's run is ending, Saban says, not so fast my friend.
- For what they are spending, you'd expect more for Miami.
- ATM - quite a fall from last year's purchased class
- UTjr says they are ahead of schedule - the numbers say otherwise.
- Maimi has been taking UF's lunch money and stuffing them in their locker.
- The talent gap isn't closing in the SEC east.
- Welcome to the SEC, UT and OU ... not bad, not bad at all.
- Clemson and tOSU dominate their weakass conferences.

Bama's class won't come close to the aggy total number last cycle.. but I do trust Nick got mental evals done to go with the high rankings

BTW nice Breakdown @WhosYourDawggy

Thanks, but they are going to come really close. ATM had 333. When Bama adds Russaw, Smith, and then flips Proctor, they will be at 326. Third highest ever. They will get a Bama bump at the final adjustments - I think they do one more. So, they won't quite get there, but it will be damn close.

We will be no. 2 at 309. If we land Duce Robinson in Feb, will be at 314 which would be around 10th highest. It's a weird class for us:

- No QB
- Just one RB
- Heavy on DBs, which means we are losing at least 2-3 good ones
- Surprisingly sparse on the DL
- Incredible ILB and OLB haul
- Solid if not splashy OL
- Best WR group in a while, and a couple more coming in by transfer
- Awesome TE group

1-loss (to TCU) OKST beats an undefeated TCU by 14+ in the CCG.
Undefeated UGA loses to Bama in the CCG by 14+.

Which team, OKST or UGA, should have higher CFP priority, IYO?

Fong said it was between UGA and UT for Duce but I think SC is in a better spot than UT tbh.

Just happy that Kirby couldn't get to Sydir Mitchell

Still trying but not likely. Our TE production is going to be attractive, plus he can play baseball. That cuts against USC. He is not a top 100 MLB prospect, so MLB seems out.

LOL @ fucking Iowa... you got played

That’s what they get for keeping a schlub like Brian Ferentz on staff.

Still, it’s probably better if Bama gets the death penalty anyway. Bunch of slimy, cheating fucks.

Devin Brown confirmed today that he's not transferring, so we're gonna go into next year with McCord, Brown, and Kienholz. If Brown wins the competition (which I'm hoping for), odds are McCord transfers and we'll just bring in a 3rd stringer from the portal. The QB position is the least of my concerns.

I really hope Brown wins. McCord has some nice arm talent but he is a statue when it comes to running. He makes CJ look like Vick. Brown has some pretty decent mobility and seems like a willing runner, along with the arm talent.

I think Brown's mobility is better than decent from what I've heard. He's not Lamar Jackson but he's definitely not afraid to run. JT Barrett type but with a live arm.

We need that. A QB like CJ is nice, but it's clearly not going to win you championships in college football this day and age. You don't have to be Lamar but you can't just be a statue "pure pocket passer" who refuses to ever take off either.

The new kid Kienholz is even more mobile. Got comp'd to Desmond Ridder, which I'm fine with considering he's gonna be throwing the ball in this offense. I'm excited for the QB competition next year but absolutely with you, I badly want Brown to win and give us 2 years of play.

I'm pretty impressed with Kienholz, think he'd be rated higher if he wasnt from fucking South Dakota.

Obviously HS competition could be a concern and it might take a bit more time for him to adjust to playing against D1 talent. But all the tools are clearly there. Doesn't have the world's strongest arm but it's good enough and but he's super accurate and has some great athletic ability. Kid just seems like a hard nosed gamer too.
