I lived in California for 48 years. For most of those years, I never gave a lot of thought to the fires that sprung up from time to time. Lately, it has seemed to get much worse. In the last few years I lived there, it seemed like we were in the path of a fire every year. My mom still lives in Napa and it seems like her house, which was never threatened when I was younger, is in the path nearly every year.

My work moved me out of California a couple of years ago. While there are a number of things I miss, the seemingly-increasing annual fire danger is not one of them.

They are such a regular occurrence anymore we just refer to summer as fire season.

Last time I took the family out to Inland Empire there had just been a fire. The place we rented was all pink from the fire retardant. There were a bunch of avocado groves nearby that had been wiped out

What I could gather was, there was some drama on the Detroit team boards, and he just rage quit. Never seen again. @broncosmitty could fill us in maybe

Once things progressed to full blown AIDS he had a hard time finding the strength.
 
The final straw for him was being called out for tanking in fantasy football. Was glorious to witness.

Detroit team board still couldn't match the drama of The Team Formerly Known as the Redskins board.

Detroit can't win anything.

Yeah, much of the Inland Empire is in a valley. At least 1 or 2 of the surrounding mountains get a good size fire every year. Obviously, some years it's worse than others.

We just had one in one of the mountains closer to where I live, but really wasn't too bad. Mainly just the smell of smoke in the air for a couple of days. Last year or the year before, there was a big fire on a mountain that's really close by and we got a lot of soot, ash and smoke in air.
