Honestly surprised people don't die on the field in the NFL more often

lol

I never said "never"

you started the discussion. Do you just want everyone to agree with you or do you want to have a discussion?

I also don't think you have a very good understanding of the human body...
Youre right, everything is safe

I think that you see it more in high school because there's a potential huge disparity in size of the players, as well as potential issues with the skill level where some kid who never played a down in his life is about to get run over by some guy who signed a full ride with Alabama.
I'm not so sure its level of disparity, as much as:

a. shit ton more high school players than college and nfl. Just odds are greater of seeing more HS players die.

b. I'm not sure what the actual numbers are, but it doesn't seem most of the deaths are from hard hits. Rather most incidents seem to be someone's heart giving out and the player passing out. Even last night, it wasn't an incredibly hard hit. Not necessarily a light hit, but one we see multiple times a game.

c. level of medical screening is much more in-depth in college and nfl. With more years of being examined and better examinations, more likely for players heart or medical conditions to be caught at the higher levels and hopefully prevent death.

Neither did Picasso.

I really don't know what exactly happened last night.

a friend guessed that he broke his neck on the tackle and when he got up, he severed his spine, fell...and couldn't breath. That is why they were performing CPR...

I don't know if that is what actually happened though.

You know, I don't often give props to ESPN because they usually suck really bad, but I thought they did a good job rambling on ad hoc for 90 minutes with no direction. I listened to a doctor speak about it and he said that a blow to the chest in the heart area could only cause heart failure if caught at the exact right time which is the point where the heart has beat and is preparing for another one. You can miss that in a millisecond so the odds of it happening in a pro game are quite high. If the hit happened at any other time, the heart would have taken it in stride.

I hear it happening in HS football more often as another poster mentioned. I'm not doc but could it possibly have something to do with still being underdeveloped? IDK shit in this regard.

Yeah, I guess they could have played again but with half the guys in tears, it likely would have been a yuuuuuuge disaster.
Maybe something to do with not being fully developed, there being waaaaaay more kids playing high school football than adults playing in the NFL is probably also a factor. If an already rare thing is going to happen, the odds of it happening in the group with a much larger sample size are pretty good.

That makes sense.

I feel like most times a kid dies on the football field it is because some asshole coach has them out there on the hottest day of the year running sprints in full pads.

soccer could have the same collision.

It was clearly a clanger.

But soccer had the exact same thing happen with a Danish international playing against Finland in the European Championship a year ago? Running, running, face plant.

They finished the game.

I've been so covered up I haven't heard anything at all. What is the latest? Is the dude finished?

Low speed but it’s not far off.
so not equivalent.

less than.

I get what you are saying though. There are similarities to a car crash in what your body is seeing when it gets tackled.
