What was your first car ???

1963 Chevy Belair 4 door with a 6 cyl. and 2 speed powerglide transmission. I don't have a picture. I gave $75 for it when I was 15. It was up on blocks when I bought it.

@Rex Racer Did I tell you the story of me being at the bank about 15 yrs ago and there was a '78 Anniversary two-tone Vette parked outside with a For Sale sign? This was in Southern California. It had NY tags and a guy with a heavy Long Island accent comes over when I'm standing there admiring it. We talk a minute, he tells me he only wants 10 grand but needs cash on the barrel and "I'll send the title as soon as it gets here from NY." Right dude. Man, I was super-excited for a minute. Black leather seats, the whole nine yards. Man, I wanted that thing!

Ours was a four-on-the-floor if I remember right?
Seems that most were back in the early 70's. I know they made automatics, but the bench seat in the front of such a small car was goofy.

My Dad picked up an 86 Ford Tempo diesel for next to nothing that looked exactly like this. We drove the wheels off that thing and every time we put diesel in it, the station attendant would come out panicking and screaming "that's diesel, don't put that in your car, it'll ruin it!" One day my Mom ran out of gas and we never got that thing started again. The local diesel college even towed it to their shop and they couldn't even get it started.

A Ford Pinto...paid $50 bucks for it not running. Changed the points and it was good to go!

The one I had didn't look this good....mine had more rust.

I remember having to teach myself three-on-the-tree when I told my boss I could drive a big Chevy C65 grain truck. Jumped in thinking it was on the floor, it was column shift and the diagram was worn off.
A young lady in high school once asked me why I had a third pedal in a automatic.

First vehicle I bought was a 1984 Dodge Ram, it had nearly 500,000 miles on it and it was falling apart, so I got rid of it before I was able to drive.

First vehicle I bought that I could drive was a 1987 Dodge Ram, had a 440 big block, and gas was over 4 dollars a gallon when I was 16, so it wasn't very practical for a broke high school student.

First practical vehicle was a 1994 Jeep Cherokee, and I think that's the most indestructible vehicle ever made. I treated it like shit, RPMs constantly red lined, hit every mudhole I could find wide open, would go forever between oil changes. I sold it a buddy of mine about 5 years ago, he still drives it to work every day, has well over 400,000 miles on it. The body will rust off long before that 4.0 straight 6 stops running.

I don't remember that story, but it is hilarious. Got me thinking about selling one of my neighbors trucks, he's such a dick :ROFLMAO:

God damn, you could be my dad! Totally meant as a compliment.

My first car was a 1981 Audi.

It was a 5 cylinder. I got it as payment for working on a farm that it had been sitting at for years.

It looked just like this one.

That model would drop the engine on a front impact.

Know because I was the in the passenger seat when my friend took on a tree.

1989 Mustang GT similar to the one pictured with just a "few" modifications.

1970 Dodge Dart, non-Swinger. Light blue with a white vinyl top. Left fender and drivers door were a slightly different color. 318 V8 that would really haul.

Can NOT for the life of me find a decent picture of a stock Dart, all I find are Swingers, but this is probably the closest image I can find:

1974 Vega...... That bitch burned through a quart of oil for every gallon of gas.
Ah yes....the amazing Vega. Lol

Reminds of one I heard....very early 50s Ford Flathead V-8s gorged on oil. Guy says a service person at the gas station always asked him “fill your oil, and check your gas?”
