Waddle is going to carve up that secondary. You can be stout against the run, especially in the RZ, but you have to make sure you stop those big catches from turning into long TDs. I just don't think that GA can air out the ball for a shootout. I'm much more comfortable laying money that Bama finds a way to stop GA offense at the end, than GA finds a way to punch a TD against the Bama D.I don't think many of you realize how good our defense is. We have given up 1 rushing TD since the 2018 SECCG. That's 18 games, one rushing TD by Auburn's QB Nix. A RB hasn't scored a TD on a rush in 17 games. Harris is good, for sure, but we just don't give up the long runs. UTjr has a pretty good OL and RBs ... we held them to -1 yards rushing.
We also have a really good secondary that has at least one 1st round CB, and another CB and a S that will go in the first 2 rounds. The other guys are really good. But the biggest change this year is the pressure we are bringing. 10 sacks in 3 games, and a ton of pressures.
We play 20-25 guys on D, and not talking garbage time. These are all 4* 5* guys who just rotate in and out and you really don't lose much from one to the other. On the DL, in the UTjr game as an example, we played 9 DL, and the most a DL played against UTjr was 53% of the snaps, the least 14% of snaps. 6 of them played more than 25%, less than 53%. We played 9 LBs, with 9 playing more than 20% with the most being 61% of snaps. In the secondary, we played 12 CBs/S/Stars who had more than 20% of snaps the most 80%. This will sound familiar to Bama fans as this is what they did for many years when their D was like this.
Having said that, Bama will be one of the top Os we faced, other than LSU last year. We gave up 37 points to them in the SECCG, but that was still 11 points under their average. My guess is that we will play to shut down the run, make them beat us in the air. Bama has scary awesome WRs, same with OL, and their QB has played well so far. If we can shut down the run (say 1 TD), and apply some pressure we can hope to hold them to 3 TDs and a FG, 24 points. If we do that, I think we have a shot against their D that has not played well thus far. Remember, they beat us OT in the 2017 NCG 26-23, and in the 2018 SECCG 35-28. So, we need to keep that down more like the NCG.
We are lucky to not have a full house of cousin-humping rednecks, but I suspect those there will make a lot of noise. But we dodged having a full house. I'll bet anything that Saban will be in a sealed box running the show. No way he's at home trying to run things on Zoom.
We've had some great games in 2012, 2017, and 2018 (I'd like to forget 2015 - we were favored to win, and they curbstomped us in Athens). This should be a really good game. The problem is that we will likely face each other in the SECCG and winning 2 is a tall order.
I have powers you guys wouldn't understand.i think WT jinxed Bama and that got Saban the covid
Ok. Who got ahold of Turkey’s password???
This sounds like the mirror image of an OU roster. Why don't you land thieves and hairy dogs get together and make some straight 4*/5* player trades. Riley sends some of those offensive guys to Athens and Norman gets some guys that can actually make a tackle. Wallah.I don't think many of you realize how good our defense is. Meh, it's starting to annoy me. All the kicks are on the same leg!
Waddle will get his, but he's human, not a fucking magician. You must have missed the part of having 3 of our secondary going in the first 2 rounds of the draft. If we want, we will put our best CB on Waddle in press coverage and limit him greatly. Not saying we can totally shut him down, but it's not hard to reduce the impact of a no. 1 WR when you have a secondary like we have. Now, Bama has some incredible 2 and 3 WRs we have to deal with, of course. But the idea that we can't shut down a single WR makes no sense.Waddle is going to carve up that secondary. except on D last Saturday.
Speaking of belly-draggers, you know of anything about GR?Hell no...they are already belly draggin' on the ground. They'd have to collapse upwards.
Is that even possible?
