Champions League 2022/2023

Huge Champions League game today: Liverpool vs Real Madrid. Both teams erratic latety. Rooting for Liverpool. Can never root for the Death Star plus Super League proponent ever.

Howler lol. Swen Ulreich hold my beer

Cortois lol. Great start for Liverpool. That was an all time howler.

Vinicius Wow!!!

Holy moly. Allison howler now. Crazy game.

Well, that was collapse. Liverpool out of UCL.

The usual suspects killed Liverpool. #1 Trent Alexander-Arnold. Complete disgrace on defense again. Just watched most the game and left Gomez hung out to dry. #2 Jordan Henderson. His days are numbered like Thiago. Midfield needs an overhaul. Gomez gets some blame too on the backwards pass to Allisson but mostly he was thrown under the bus by Arnold. Arnold needs to go. For all his beautiful crosses his defensive liabilities too much to overcome.

Both goalies erratic for sure. That was a pounding.

I know even teams who win Titles fall off, but I don't think I've seen one fall so far so fast as this Liverpool team.

@MrFlyingV has said it before, but obviously Mane was more important to Liverpool than their fans wanted to acknowledge. And their back line is horrible, and Virgil isn't the same Virgil he was a few years ago.

Good showing by Leipzig today. Tied the other evil empire.

Barca out of Europa to Man U lol. Barca can't beat any heavyweights. La Liga a pile of shit other Real Madrid. Love to see whiny Bob fail at his new club. I guess there is no paying refs in the Europa League lol.

You'd think they would've learn from Juventus that it's harder to fix matches and pay off refs in Europe.

I've seen numerous theory crafting stories about Liverpool's issues. Most of them theorize Klopp's high intensity style requires excellent depth, youth, and turnover in the roster. Seems to be a reasonable suggestion because most of Liverpool's issues can be tied to injuries and an aging midfield.

I've read that too, similar to Bielsa's style (though not as intense), look at Leeds when he was there, fast pace, high intensity and they did well for a while, but it usually can't be sustained, because of injuries and general fatigue.

And i think that's a big reason why Pep's City teams have had such prolonged success. Their roster is very deep and he rotates a ton...a lot more rotation than any of the other big clubs in the league do. Of course, it also helps when you break FFP rules for about 8 years straight to build that roster.

Neymar already out next week, but this a huge blow for PSG defense. And Bayern has Mane back now.
