To be fair, playoff has not been around that long. That is why it is good to at least throw in the BCS (or at least last 10 years of the BCS). In that mix you have Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida State, Oregon, Auburn, LSU, Alabama, USC Trojans, Virginia Tech, Clemson, and Ohio State all in the mix. Even Nebraska went in 2001 (although it was embarassing).

Also, to be "back" doesn't necessarily mean winning a national title. It is good to even appear in the top 25 regularly. This is something that should be achievable for Nebraska.

VaTech went to the BCS title game in the heydey of Beamer Ball with a superstar QB in Vick, and Nebraska went to the BCS despite finishing second in it's own North Division. They were the reason why the rule was put in place that a conference champion had to be included in the BCS.

With the CFP it's going to be much harder for a school like VaTech to go through that.. the divide is getting bigger.. sure they can be a top 25 team, just like NE.. but NE wants more, but haven't come close to being a legit title winner since the 1999 season.

If you look at the recruiting trends.. there is now a huge drop off between 1-4/5 and the rest.. classes ranked 10 are much closer to the 20th class than they are to #3. This divide is only going to get bigger.

Disagree. For P5s, being "back" or relevant means CFP or bust. If not, they aren't anything more than wealthy G5s posing as members of the P5 Country Club.

What I want is to see Nebraska have a good year and get some momentum going. Knock off Ohio State on the road or something that really gets the Nebraska fans back to where they should be mentally. And then.........I wanna hear the Rocky music start playing the next season and have it blaring like a SOB by the time Ohio State and Nebraska meet again----this time for the B1G Championship and a spot in the CFP. Nebraska wins. And who wouldn't want to see another Nebraska/Oklahoma game in the CFP?

Back when I was much younger, the game I looked forward to was the OU/NE game. The RRSO was good, but the OU/NE game was it.
Most of the time, the winner went to the Orange Bowl.

Yeah but his point remains the same.. We got talent.. our coach sucks. Easier to cipher through coaches than having the right coach, struggle getting recruits to Lincoln...if Frost is even the right coach for that job.

Yea cant wait to face OU here next couple years i think it is? 21 22? id have to double check. It is great that Frost is restoring the culture here (yea weight training no longer optional, thanks smilin mike) I hear our OL is actually improving ( cuz it all starts up front and we havent had one of those in years)

Hope we can make it respectable and make it back into something!

Our recruiting hasnt changed since the 90's..... we are recruiting at the same level even in our down years....
