The Longhorns

and this is where.. Texas is Nebraska.. but with actual hope makes sense... Yes we do less with more.. That should mean that one day, we can do more with more or something.. where Nebraska will have to over achieve with less.. so the ISU model..

Nah

Have to start winning soon.

will this be the biggest upset ever when Frost stumbles his way into a Purdue with Moore performance vs tosu in two weeks?

Dont talk bad about Frost now fella.

If Huskers beat tOSU that would be cool, but it would be a fluke and pretty much meaningless. Huskers aren't at that level right now.

You're a good dude, but what's with the name? What does it mean?

It's an old gamer tag I made up back in the yahoo pool days (geocities, angelfire) days.. 22 years later...still use it

It's the shocking losses, or lack of them, that get a coach fired. Herman is there.

Iowa State and West Virginia have better fan support than the Kansas schools IMO.
K State is at least as good imho. KU...mmeeehhh not so much

Nah Nebraska has as much (more) as ever because we are still recruiting like we used to.....and now we have a super intelligent HC who not only understands what it means to play at Nebraska, but what it was like in the 90's and what it was to win.

Nobody (except retards) expects him to turn around a program that took the better part of 2 decades destroying the culture....but there is more than enough reason for hope at nebraska.

The difference between Nebraska and Texas..... about 5ish years.... that is all.... texas was having its fun poking fun at Nebraska and our coaching blunders, 5(ish) years later texas is doing the same thing, and you are nowhere near your "promised" one (lot harder to mask a programs deficiencies at coaching when you are only pulling top 20 tallent instead of top 10)

Disagree. For P5s, being "back" or relevant means CFP or bust. If not, they aren't anything more than wealthy G5s posing as members of the P5 Country Club.

90% of the schools don't have a chance at CFB. Do you see Illinois, Purdue, Northwestern, Wake Forest, NC State, Duke, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, Kansas, Baylor, Washington State, Arizona, Boston College, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Minnesota... I could go on making playoffs anytime soon? Or even EVER.

No. You've made my point. They won't ever be back until they have a chance...and as you've stated, they have none. Those P5 schools you listed have the same chance as the G5s.

How and why have we built a system where 90% (I'd say closer to 95%) never, no not ever never, have a chance a winning a title?

lack of them? we have a full arsenal of "shocking" losses, but at the end of the day, you just realize.. it can't be shocking if it's a theme, thanks Tom..
That is gay.

Theoretically, they can do it. It is just a matter of getting the right players and coaching. Coaching matters more in CFB than anything (in NFL, I would say the players matter more than anything).

Look at Alabama pre-Saban. You can't tell me that if the next Saban went to Nebraska, they wouldn't be back in the top 5 and making the playoffs?

Because we restrict it to 4. Open it up to 8 with 5 guaranteed spots for P5 winners, one guaranteed G5, and two at large would open it up to a lot more schools.

You sound like you agree with me that the losses to TCU and OU weren't exactly shocking under the Herman regime. That is the reason he is on a hot seat and what leads to firings. When you slip up and lose to App St or JMU but win the rest of your games, THAT'S shocking.

back to back losses to MD were pretty bad.. the KU FG win felt even worse tbh.. Luckily this shit is getting another person to attempt to do this gig a little better

Data is indicating that recruiting matters the most. "The next Saban" could win at Nebraska....but only if "The Next Saban" recruited at the same level as the current Saban.

So, a coach with a bunch of 3*s is going to have the same shot as a coach with a bunch of 4*/5*s? If you believe talent doesn't matter, I got absolutely nothing in my medicine kit that can help cure your disease.

Not sure about "a lot more schools" but I agree 100% it would open it up to more. No doubt. Spreading talent out more evenly would open it up even more IMHO. But, that doesn't appear likely.

But, opening it up to more increases the chance of a lesser team getting on a good three game run and winning it. That type thing is not cherished at the top level of CFB.

I say a lot more because now you can have two SEC or ACC schools and still get the lowly big12 winner in as a sacrificial lamb. It would keep a team who is good but has a November slip up in the running instead of prioritizing early season losses over late ones.
