I know football drives the bus, but there's something to be said if the B12 does pull off adding those 4 teams. Just with basketball alone you'd have Kansas, Baylor, Houston, Arizona as national teams, then good programs like TTU, ISU, KSU, Cincy, WVU, OSU etc...

The ACC earned a little over 36 million to be distributed because of tournament performance(to be paid out over 6 years).

Wouldn't surprise me to see a future B12 with those teams earn like an additional $12/year given how many team's they'll put in and how good they will likely perform.

Access to recruiting grounds........that's a farce in itself. West coast recruits don't need Penn st or Michigan in California to sway them.

Stop it.. SC is on the upswing with a new coach who was on the brink of them from making the CFP.. this move is going to reinvigorate their fanbase on matchups alone. UCLA has been improving on the football field as well..This move can lead for upgraded facilites

Agreed.. I know FOX will be happy too since they paid for more basketball content

Agree. That's going to be great content for FOX. UCF, WVU, Cincy can provide 12:00 ET tip times, then all the CT teams, and finish up with BYU and the 4 P12 schools.

Just think of what a Saturday of CBB could look like:

12 ET - KU @ WVU
2:00 - TTU @ Baylor
4:00 - KSU @ HOU
6:00 - BYU @ OSU
8:00 - CU @ Utah
10:00 - ASU @ UofA

Obviously you can change some matchups, it is good CBB all day.

I just read a great article in The Athletic where the commission of the B12 is going to go hard at basketball. They have Gonzaga in discussion for a lesser BB share only. Landing Arizona would be helpful for that. Their commissioner seems to be sharp as a tack unlike the losers the PAC keeps hiring.

It won't be huge, but adding a few million per team is a good thing. I can't wait to see what he is going to do with scheduling.

It really would be an incredible CBB conference. It won't move the needle a ton, but making a run in the tournament not only brings in more money, it could affect applicants to the school. I remember George Mason had a huge uptick in applications after they made the FF run.
 
i think it's a mistake to grab Gonzaga.. they already have a terrific bball conference and are about to add UH, and AZ

Yeah, for the B1G and the SEC it would be a rounding error. But the B12 knows they have generate interest in other ways. I really like their commissioner thus far. Think he's doing a great job!

Been a long time ago, but I remember reading something similar with TCU and Baylor. Gest of it was that after TCU won the Rose Bowl and RGIII won the Heisman, applications at both schools quadrupled or something like that. Obviously that didn't equal a proportional enrollment increase, but it sure makes the case for athletic success increasing university exposure.

and who picks up games on accident? Ive never watched a game on accident. I know who is playing when on what channel.

having 1 good year with a new coach who kept making the playoffs and doing nothing is upswing? didnt win the conference again. didnt make the playoffs again.
the matchups alone with the likes of Northwestern? Rutgers? Minnesota? Maryland? Indiana? Illinois? Michigan State? Purdue?
you have 3 schools that jump the needle. Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State. then you have 3 schools that move the needle for some in Iowa Wisconsin and Nebraska but for the most part not that much. but whats the schedule really gonna consist of more of the first group i mentioned than the others.

Most people pick up PAC games by accident. You know, a full day of east coast CFB, you just aren't done yet, you are flipping around and you find Cal v. WashU 58 to 42 in the second quarter. So you watch that for a few hours.

ESPN and FOX dominate this market. It's what the kids see and want. Tell me this ... who are the hosts going to be on ION's Saturday morning PAC Game Day? Who are the announcers going to be? The best talent is at ESPN and Fox and CBS.

You are being obtuse of you can't see ION is not a good thing.

It would be good for the Big 12 but bad for Gonzaga.

Gonzaga plays hard in the preseason and coast during the regular season. Make them play in a gauntlet league and their success will plummet.

So they find games by accident but at the same time telling recruits there is more exposure on ESPN? if they are on ESPN the people should know because exposure not accident. they are going to be seen on ESPN on purpose no on accident right?

are you suggesting there aren't any sports personalities at all on the market who could take this up? first and foremost anyone who is currently working the Pac 12 network.

In terms of a tv product Michigan State pulls in very good ratings for being probably the 5th most marketable team in that conference.

Thank you for leaving Iowa State out of the mix since they have forgotten how to win a MBB game. Tomorrow will be the one month anniversay of their last MBB Victory!
