The Official Conference Tournaments Thread

UCLA and Kansas seem to be limping into March Madness due to injuries/fatigue. They’ve earned their seeds but those seeds may not be accurate at this point in time.

Yeah, in watching NC State games this year, there seemed to be a lot of empty seats outside of the games against Duke/UNC. It wouldn't surprise me to see them make a move on him. They wanted Sendek gone who accomplished a lot more than Keatts.

And yeah, it's close between all those ACC schools. I picked Pitt over NCSU because they have more quality wins, and more quality wins away from home. Plus they own the H2H over NCSU as well. They also played a much tougher NCSOS than NCSU did. Their predictives suck for sure, but their resume based metrics are pretty even. Typically they'll take into the better resume over factoring in predictives if it comes down to selection.
this was the crowd at tipoff for NC State/Duke:

Top 10 “S” Curve:
Kansas, Houston, Alabama, Purdue, Texas, UCLA, Arizona, Marquette, Gonzaga, Baylor
Last 4 BYES: Illinois, Rutgers, Utah State, Mississippi State
Last 4 IN: Providence, Pittsburgh, Arizona State, Clemson
First 4 OUT: NC State, Oklahoma State, Wisconsin, Vanderbilt
Next 4 OUT: Michigan, Oregon, Nevada, North Carolina

If Princeton beats Yale, UC Santa Barbara moves to the 13 line, Louisiana moves to the 13 line, Grand Canyon would move to the 14 line and Princeton would take the place of Grand Canyon on the 15 line. Let's hope that doesn't happen as I am confused just typing this out. If Dayton beats VCU they simply replace them on that seed line. I think all the other outcomes are meaningless and won't change anything. USC gets a procedural bump to the 9 line instead of PSU, because the B1G has the 8/9 lines monopolized and I can't put an 8/9 B1G team in the same pod as #1 seed Purdue.

The only thing I'm not confident about is the inclusion of Clemson over NC State. I can definitely see that being flipped, but I think the committee will reward Clemson for not only beating NC State 3 times H2H, but also just having more quality wins in general, despite having some awful losses. Clemson is very similar to Rutgers last year, who was in the First Four.
Houston isn't even the best school in TX

I guess things can look deceiving on television. Lmao. Yeah, major fan apathy has set in.
not sure if you watched the Clemson/NCSU game but after DJ Burns picked up his third foul early in the second half, Keatts placed his hands on his head in a sign of disbelief for about twenty seconds and forgot to sub Burns out. By the time he got Burns' replacement at the scorer's table, play had already resumed. not sure i have ever seen a high major coach do that before.

i think Keatts is a bad coach that got lucky with the transfer portal this year.

I'm not a huge fan of Keatts but I don't see NC State getting rid of him after arguably his most successful season at the school.

right. they should get rid of him but they won't. hilarious he's going to have a longer tenure than Gottfried despite accomplishing far less. It was time for Gottfried to go and Keatts should have been fired last year.

What's funny is I think the next 4 out can do a lot of damage, more than the 8 teams ahead of them, except Providence.

But none will get in or should.

random thought but remember that retarded Cincinnati fan on the other site that wanted to get rid of Mick Cronin?

that take has aged liked milk

Lmao. Haven't made the tournament since he left.

He should have been fired last year, can't really justify doing it this year. However, he did really upgrade the roster quickly using the portal. Is that something he can do consistently? I guess we're going to find out.

I agree with most of this. I'm not sure Kansas should be the #1 overall seed but it really doesn't matter as I think they should be a #1 seed.

I'd probably put NC State in the tournament but I'm also having a tough time taking one of those bubble teams out.

I hope Houston loses today.. and gets the last 1 seed and UT gets the 2 seed in their bracket.

Yeah, #1 overall was a tough call. I can see any of Bama, Houston or KU getting it. All three have positives.

And yeah, I'll probably be wrong about NC State, that was the toughest call.

I'd think UT would match up better against Purdue than Houston....unless Sasser is out.

nah.. the mongoloid gave us issues a year ago.. i hate depending on the style of refs before games

He's gonna give everyone trouble. I also don't think they are good as they were last year, and you guys are better. I'm also coming from the angle that I'll probably pick Houston to win it based on how the matchups shake out.

I will say, if it were up to me, I'd put Oklahoma State in over all 3 ACC schools in question, I just don't think the committee will.

How likely do you think it is that Providence ends up in Dayton.

Obviously you have it as your selection. But curious if you think the committee will actually do it.

I think it comes down to them and Rutgers for who will go to Dayton. Providence is surprisingly better in the predictives than the results based metrics, usually it's the other way around. They just don't have much on the resume and they've played a pretty bad NCSOS. I honestly wouldn't be shocked if they missed altogether. They're also under .500 against the top 3 quads, which is a huge red flag.

Yeah their non con was embarrassingly bad which will be what hurts them forsure if they are punished.

I would be stunned if they missed the tournament tho. I think with how highly regarded the top 4 of the BE are the committee wont have a situation where only those 4 make it. Providence will get credit for being the clear "best of the rest"
