Zach Wilson could be the luckiest son of a gun ever..

he will have so many weapons if they can't pull ARod from GB

From what I gather, Rodgers-to-the-Jets is pretty much a done deal; with the two hold-ups being 1) the Packers want two 1sts and the Jets don't want to give up two 1sts or this year's 1st so there's a bit of a poker match going on between the two franchises; and 2) if the trade occurs before June 1st GB is on the hook for $40M in dead cap for 2023 versus after June 1st it would be $15M this year and $25M next year - which might be was GB prefers if they can't get this year's 1st out of the Jets. Ultimately, the longer the Jets hold out on compensation for Rodgers the more it favors the Packers if the trade doesn't become official before the draft.

Doesn’t help if you have weapons if you suck and can’t get the ball to the weapons.

But like @RP-29 said, I don’t see how the Rodgers trade doesn’t get done at some point. Hopefully before the draft

jets would be dumb to give 2 firsts for one year rental to a player not fully committed

I think GB ends up with 2nd this year and conditional pick next year that is dependent on Rodgers coming back and/or how far NYJ went. To get this years first, I would think NYJ would expect GB to pick up his entire bonus this year

just my guess

GB could've got the package Seattle got last year for Russ

GB has been using the Stafford trade as the template. I agree with you that it's reaching and I think that the Stafford trade isn't apples-to-apples with this Rodgers situation either; but I also don't blame GB for using it as a template or trying to maximize their return. Do I think GB will get two firsts out of the deal? Probably not, but I think it's a pretty good starting point for negotiations from GBs perspective and I continue to hold out some hope that it might actually happen because - let's face it - it's the Jets!

The Jets just traded Elijah Moore to Cleveland for their 2nd round pick. Maybe that extra 2nd NYJ just got will be the worm that causes GB to bite.

What's GBs leverage?

Fine we'll just keep an expensive malcontent?

That’s my thought. The Jets are getting one, maybe two years out of the guy if he comes. They’ve got a fan base that’s highly accustomed to losing. You think they can’t sell their fan base on we’re not going mortgage the future of this franchise on a short-term diva who can’t win in the playoffs?

He's got a career 12-10 record in the playoffs though

He's also one of the best postseason QBs of all-time, he just hasn't had a great team around him.
That’s simply not true. He’s had teams that were good enough to win, but they didn’t. Year after year. At some point, you have to stop making excuses

GB's leverage is the Jets' moves. The Jets hired Hackett to lure Rodgers. The Jets sent a group of top admins to Rodgers' house to lure him. Jets players courted Rodgers. The Jets signed Lazard to lure Rodgers. This is a very public and showy all-hands-on-deck courting of Rodgers. They can't simply not pay the Packers' asking price after all this. They will pay; but first they will negotiate.

I'm saying statistically, he's undoubtedly one of the best. 5th best QB rating, 65% comp, 5,894 yards, 45 TD/13 INT in 22 games. He's performed better than Montana who is widely regarded a a top playoff QB as well.

I suppose it comes down to whether you’d prefer to have a QB who puts up good stats or one who helps his team win.

no, i agree they're not going to just get 3rd or 4th, but Jets are taking on a big contract and money off GB's hands for a guy that might play 2 years who is already out the door? There are also no other teams bidding and Rodgers probably wouldn't accept another team at this point and time anyways.

I think they'll get a 2nd and conditional pick next year, which is more than they should get. If Rodgers was 34/35 and committed to play another 3-5 years, they'd get more. If I were Jets GM, I would say here is a 3rd this year, if we win the SB, we'll give you next years first, if he comes next year we'll give you next years 2nd or something like that.........

If I'm jets I'm also concerned, was last year injury related or the athletes worst enemy, father time? I'd hedge mix of the two.

hard to compare stats across different era's, different rules, different playing styles

Tom Brady has more wins vs NFC teams in playoffs than Rodgers.....

GB has more than one playoff exit to a lower seed and an immunity to beating SF in the playoffs. His 1-3 NFCCG holds him back from being one of the best

Rodgers is one of the best pure throwers I've ever seen though, first ballot HOF, no doubt there. At his level, fair or not, QB's will be judged by SB wins, and he has one.
