If I'm gonna deal with an especially shitty area to see music, the venue itself should at least be nice.
For example, the Warfield is in an awful part of SF, but once you get inside, it's really nice.

Back in the early 90's I was getting my game-face on in the parking lot before a Primus show, when we saw their tour bus pull up. Naturally we walked over there. Les came out first, and everyone yelled LESSSS!!!! He replied in his weird tweaker voice..."Hey guys, how's it going?" and shook all our hands, and then walked in the venue. Out stumbles Larry Lalonde next, looking completely stoned...he walked up towards us and we all kinda froze, waiting to hear what he'd say and if he'd greet us like Les, and all he says is... "Hey, is this the door?" LOL

I've met them a couple times over the years.
