PAC News

Throwing money at recruits isn’t the only way the Horns and Ags blindly throw money around.
ahh you must be talking about the coaching staffs? For as big as the job is, they never pay top dollar for coaches.. Herman didn't set the market nor did Sark.. Chuck clearly didn't either

Yeah but you guys also paid them not to coach. And in judging from the results, you overpaid them even if you got them at a bargain!

Aggie definitely overpaid Jimbo.

The ONLY thing that I can confirm this morning regarding the
@pac12
media deal is
@AppleTVPlus
wants the ENTIRE tier one package and would use
@Pac12Network
as their production arm.
@PrimeVideo
is still there for a Friday Night Game. The linear partner remains the holdup.

So basically the PAC (rightfully so) want a regular network partner also in order to make their game assessable. At this point it looks like all the best games would be on Apple TV (which is going to drop their ratings and exposure), Amazon wants like a Thursday and Friday game package and they need a network partner for the rest.

None of the networks seem interested in Oregon State vs Cal at this point.

The PAC is just damned determined to keep themselves unavailable for viewing.

So what's the projected payouts ?

Having your best games on Apple TV is going to kill your ratings. No one outside of the PAC is going to subscribe to watch those games and I have my doubts about many of the PAC fanbases outside UW and Oregon.

This will kill recruiting.

look man i may be the only one on an island here.. but if Apple TV broadcasts it's one "national" game in 4k or 8k I'll tune in

I’d imagine giving Apples Money that it’d be more then what the B12 is getting. Problem is all those tier one games would be on streaming. But if they go with Apple it seems they’ll get paid.

We are going to change your screen name to Gilligan
He’s just saying this because he prays the PAC makes it and one day kills the b12. Deep down he knows he won’t watch shit.

Ratings will decline, but if it's at the cost of more money, the league has to do it. If Apple gets the tier 1 rights I'd have to guess ESPN would be in play for secondary rights and P12 after dark. And the good thing about those games for ESPN is that they will rate relatively well relative to who is playing. So it would make sense for someone to grab those games.

lol what makes you think i'll be watching the Big12 games.. they aren't broadcasted in 4k.. Fox saves that shit for BiG games

feels like ESPN will be paying peanuts..and maybe not even that. I don't think they really care for that late night window. They own majority of the Big12 rights so i'd imagine they sit back and see what happens

When did I say that, rainbro? I just stated you won’t watch PAC games even though you state you will.

Oh yeah, they won't pay much. My guess is something like 50-60 million would probably be about right which is 5/6 million per school. That's right below what they pay for AAC games, which I think is about the market if you're getting secondary rights. It would be a mistake for them not to care about that late window. You're not going to get over a million viewers with any other content that late at night. Hell even Stanford vs. Oregon State at an 11:00 et start got over a million viewers.

6-year deal for 200-240 million makes sense to me. That allows you to get back to negotiating before all the other conferences can. Then you hope Apple pays something like 1.5 billion over the same length to guarantee each school 25 million per year and between that and ESPN you have a number right below what the B12 is getting, which I think is fair given what's left of the conference.

bro i invested in a nice TV a year and a half ago.. trust me, i'm watching whatever sporting events that come in 4k.. man if appleTV offered 8k streams.. I'll be the #1 PAC fan on this board lol
