Not a total surprise, but still, he WAS the 2nd overall pick once upon a time, not so long ago. Wonder who he'll end up with.

Someone else who pays him to be "too hurt" to play.

Heard Washington might trade him during the draft to try and make room for a new EDGE, someone could get a steal if Young could actually stay healthy.

Interesting. I could see that being why they leaked that they aren't picking up the 5th year. I would assume that since they have until 5/2 to pick it up, if someone makes an offer and asks them to pick up the option first they could do that. I don't see anyone paying him $17M for 2024 though.

So if a team views it as a low risk, one year at $5m deal and they can get him for a bargain pick then I could see it happening. Probably wouldn't take more than a 3rd day pick to pry him away if Washington is done with him. Plus it saves them from having a Danny Dimes situation where he balls out and they have to decide between Young and Chase next offseason for the tag.

If they announce it now, can they go back on it though? Good point though, way to big of a question mark to commit to a $17m cap hit. Luckily enough for him, if he has a bounceback year and stays healthy, he'll probably get paid that much anyhow.

If I'm the Bears, I'm happily tossing them a 4th rounder and Mooney for Young and a 5th, and I think they'd do that.

I said from day one that Derrick Brown was the can’t miss pick and anyone who drafted Young would be sorry because he can’t stay healthy.

Feel free to go on and on how I was right and you were wrong.

You are going to need a new hat with that cerebral swelling you are experiencing.

If that's all it would take, I think we'll see several teams interested in him.

Still, the fact that they won't pick up the 5th year option is rather damning. At this point, he's got to be out to improve his stock. So any team getting him will get the best out of him.

Derrick Brown aint shuh-shuh-shuh-sheeeeot, squeaky!
On his way to being the best DT in Carolina history.

Just admit you were dead wrong as it will only hurt for a moment.
