@ukfanfrombirth(cali cat) @moxie @williewilliejuan going to the Pirates at Giants game next month, first time seeing Oracle

I’m thinking if going to PNC when the giants are in the ‘burg in mid-July. i went to a tailgate party last time I was there, but didn’t go to the actual game

Oracle (so hard for me to not call it AT&T still) is a good park. The food is great so make sure you fill up there because the coliseum suuuuuucks.

I’d like to go to some other MLB stadiums, but they’re all so damn far away. Drove by Busch Stadium and Kaufmann, and saw Marlins Park in the distance. Can’t think of any other non Braves stadiums that I’ve seen, never been in any.

I’ve attended more football games in the new Rams stadium than I have the new Falcons stadium though

There was a time when I thought it would be cool to visit all the current ballparks, but I don't care anymore. If I ever find myself near one, I'll try to go just to see a game, if my schedule allows. I did that in Phoenix last spring, it was an easy rail ride from the hotel to the ball park.

It’s not a realistic goal for me. I’m not the jet set kind, I don’t travel for work anymore, and I’m not gonna vacation in a big city unless it’s a Vegas trip to drive to LA and watch UGA play for a natty

I still call it Pac Bell, and probably always will, call it Pac Bell.
Not to mention, wasn't the name of Oakland Coliseum, (which was the indoor venue, even though the more colisuem-like structure on the same property is the stadium, and it is a stadium, but it's also coliseum-like ... that always bugged me) changed to Oracle Arena?
So, Oracle park is the one in SF where the Giants play, then there's Oracle Arena, which is in Oakland and on the same property as the Stadium where the A's play.

Anyway, yeah, @steelerssb , definitely enjoy the food.
Gordon Biersch garlic fries, and a Ghiradelli hot fudge always must-haves for me.
Many go for Cha Cha Bowls, but I can't personally attest to them.

Like @williewilliejuan says, no matter what the weather, bring at least a sweatshirt.

As far as Oakland goes, like WWJ said, BART goes right there.
Also, while I doubt you'll be over there late enough, but just in case, the last transbay train is usually around midnight.
If you miss it, you have to find another way across the bay.

Or, as I have found out the hard way, find an all-night diner and hang out until the first BART starts up in the morning.

Since I'm only doing the one gonna definitely want to get there early, games at 2 so not real worried. First game in Oakland is also at 2 and second game is 5 so probably going to be late for that, but not staying in Oakland much past those games

Thing for me is where to next. Bay Area/LA was easy because you can knock out two at once and both had top-of-bucket list stadiums (Dodgers Stadium, Oracle and seeing how much of a dump the Coliseum is) and it feels easier to justify the trip doing two stadiums instead of one, but after the Bay Area not really sure where would be next.

Maybe a Baltimore/DC swing.

Grew up in Chicago, went to White Sox games at the then Comisky Park. True WS fans hated the Cubs and refused to go to that Wrigley Field dump.

I've also been to Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum, and Dodger Stadium. Hated the Giants and the Angels.

It's kind of a shame you can't take the ferry to the Giants game.
I've only done it once (visiting a friend across the bay who had tickets to a game and ferry tickets, someone couldn't go, so I went), but it was downright idyllic. We hopped on the ferry, had a lovely ride across the bay, got dropped off right at the park, enjoyed the game (Giants won), then walked out of the park back onto the ferry for the trip back across the Bay with lots of happy fans.
