This guy was on everyone’s wish list about 7 years ago. I remember Ohio St fans mad we lost him and kept Urban Meyer.

Not saying they were rational fans but there was serious disappointment in losing Herman

He was OC and QB coach when we won the Natty with a backup, if you remember. Got a Broyles award for top assistant in the country too.

Oh of course I remember him, he was a fantastic OC. I just don't remember ever hearing anyone saying they'd rather keep him over Urban or anything really close to it.
 
The big dispute on the Georgia boards in 2015/16 was Kirby Smart v. Herman. A lot of people went off on UGA not vetting the coaching search enough and settlings for Smart because he played at UGA. There is one guy that I abuse on Rivals every time he talks about how much he loves Smart. He hated him at the time the hire was made.

Herman was the hottest name after his first season at UH.. But I remember arguing and getting blocked by a lot of UT fans and some $9.95ers who thought he was the safest bet. I had my reservations after seeing him being so thin skinned that he let a couple of sports radio djs rile him up so much he called into the show. All I was asking for was a real search.. they just narrowed it to him without looking elsewhere.

He had unexpected losses his second year, but he had convinced the UT Houston donors that he was the real deal. He was never really interested in LSU knowing UT would give him whatever he wanted.. which ironically wasn't money but the freedom of hiring who he wanted on staff and the school to pick up the buyouts.. which never needed to really happen because he brought his bros with him for UH.

I think he's a good coach, I really do.. I just think he overthinks and is stubborn. With his break from UT and going to the NFL for a season.. maybe it was the relief he needed.

Turns out...he hasn't learned anything and still is stubborn and acts like a kid when angry


lol and people were giving UT shit for firing him "too soon"
