Kind of a cool ceremony today. They wait til the very end to acknowledge them as firefighters. This departments is the most militant, or paramilitary departments in town, and in the country for that matter. They badge each graduate and posted a picture on the big screen of them the first day of the academy, with the introduction of "Recruit Gozintite" they walk to the chief and not until the badge is on, do they change the photo to them in their uniform, and introduce them as "Fire Fighter Gozintite". The boy looked identical in each photos aside from the uniform.
After that, it was "Thanks for coming, Dismissed". They had some gasbaggery before all this, and a couple videos, but it was clear that they werent shit until that moment. They also let them know that this is just the beginning, and the only thing that may be worse than being a recruit, would be a rookie fire fighter.
They do take it super serious around here. Going back to the MGM fire, Vegas kind of set new standards for the whole country and world, for hotel fire safety, and requirements. We have had our fair share of catastrophes around here, and they seem to have a plan in place for anything.
