B1G to use "Flex Protect Plus" schedule in 2024 and 2025

Going to have to research this a little to fully grasp the concept. From the article it looks like they have 10-12 protected matchups. Michigan gets Ohio State and Michigan State every year. Some teams have no protected matchups, like Penn State. Every conference pairing will have a home and home every 4 years in this set up.

All I know is -- 2024 is going to be tough sledding for Michigan. They will have Ohio State, Texas and USC, to go along with whoever else is on the schedule. Not ideal when we lose 90% of our starters at the end of this year.
Poor Michigan. Maybe you should play our schedule of Alabama, Georgia and LSU every year.

That some point will be 2024. Unless PSU can sneak in in 2024. PSU does have a more favorable schedule than Michigan so it might be a PSU/OSU title game in 2024. Which would still get massive ratings.
michigan is losing everything on offense after 2023, so I doubt it's 2024. Honestly, PSU might be the best team in the conference in 2024 with Allar, Singleton, Allen, and I'm sure another talented WR or two. I'm still on notion that they end up in the playoff as early as this coming season.

Dude LSU is mediocre most years. They've won 10 games three times in the last decade. Michigan State is consistently better than them, and michigan plays them every year.

They do lose a lot but Harbaugh has done a good job of getting guys in the portal, so I don't think they'll take too much of a step back. But I do think psu is a threat in 2024. If Allar lives up to the hype, they will be right there. And they get osu and usc at home in 2024 and don't have to play Michigan. So the schedule is there for them.

Their RB depth chart is insane right now.

michigan st is never as good as LSU.. LSU going 4-4 in SEC play equals to them going 9-0, 8-1 at WORST in the BiG

SEC SEC SEC

Who's RB depth is insane? UM or psu?

He's mostly gotten non-skill guys in the portal though. They lose their QB, RBs, and almost all of their receivers. It's going to be a gutjob on offense, and I don't think their defense is good enough to carry them.

PSU's RB depth is insane now and they have two more 4* RBs coming this year and next. They scare the shit out of me with their offensive potential honestly.

LSU won 10 games in 2013, 2018, 2019 and 2022, and won 9 in 2015, but had a game canceled or it would have been 10 as well. So that's half the time they won 10 games. Which would be the same as MSU over the last 10 years.

Sorry, missed 2013. That said, the fact that you have to include a season with a game that wasn't even played just to match MSU proves my point.

Yeah, that's true. I guess it's more so just faith in Harbaugh. They won't be as good, but I could still see them being in the mix. Having to go to OSU and USC though is tough with all that turnover.

I'm sure part of it is being an OSU fan, but I have little to no faith in Harbaugh being able to rebound. Given their resources and brand, he's been a disappointment at michigan IMO. They've been able to beat OSU the past two seasons largely because of our garbage defense, but still can't win the big one OOC. The TCU loss was awful given how much more talented of a team michigan was. I could see them being 7-5/8-4 in 2024.

It was an OOC game against McNeese State, so they would have won that game. They had another game OOC game canceled in that time frame as well, but would have only gotten them to 9 wins. I'm not gonna hold it against them that a game got canceled when they would have had a 10 win season. I'd argue LSU has been more consistent. LSU has finished ranked 7 times since 2013, MSU only 5 times.

They've also gotten some of those "SEC team" top 25 rankings though. They somehow finished top-15 in 2016 with only 8 wins, for example. I'm not saying MSU has been better than them, but to act like LSU is such a mountain to overcome most years is an exaggeration.

That was the other year they lost an OOC game, or would have been a 9-4 team, and they were ranked 20th heading into the bowl game, but killed Lamar and UL. All their seasons they finished in the top 20, so it's not like they got an SEC bump to finish at the back end of the rankings. If you're comparing them to MSU, I would say playing LSU is more of a challenge than playing MSU.

i mean look at their HCs.. lol.. it's gonna get scary with BK.. especially the way they are recruiting right now

Last I checked pretty much through the 90s the SEC West championship came down to the LSU vs Auburn game.
In the 2000s - 2010 the SEC West championship came down to the Bama vs LSU game.
Their last 3 coaches have won national championships.
They won the West last year and won a national championship in 2019.
SEC has won 13 of the last 17 national titles and done it with 5 different teams.

What has Michigan State done again?
What has the B1G done again?

Seriousily STFU.

I know this shit that pops into your heads sounds great but pause and think it through before typing anything.

This will hilariously make Penn State fans mad. They always think the B1G is out to get them. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE HAVE NO RIVALS!" lol.
In all seriousness though, who is PSU's rival? They play Sparty annually for the season finale but it has never really gained any traction. I remember when they joined the conference back in the early 90's everyone thought they were going to dominate and that has not happened.

Probably have to go back to the 1950's to find a decade stretch where MSU was better/more consistent. And even then, LSU won a title that decade(as did MSU).

They (the fans) consider Ohio State to be a rival. That isn't really returned though. They don't really have that real rival like Ohio State/Michigan or even Michigan/Michigan State.

I guess at least they've won the Big 10 a couple of times. Better than Miami and their ACC = ALL CANES CONFERENCE! (to 0 ACC titles currently) crap :pound:
