LSU vacates all football wins from 2012-2015

Gotta feel for Brian Kelly. He doesn't deserve this

In the most classic of all "The NCAA will never actually punish a prominent SEC program despite being filthy" ways, the football program was placed on 3 years' probation... that is backdated to September 2020, meaning it's over in 3 months.

I've seen that reported elsewhere, but it is incorrect. The three years begins in September 2023.

If you read the article they are on probation for something else as well so why no repeat offender charge? No institutional control charge?

Guess the days of “staring down the barrel of a gun” are over. The NCAA has no relevance and this just put the nail in their coffin.

The hearing panel concludes that the facts underlying allegation Nos. 1, 2 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 do not support a finding of a lack of institutional control, the most serious violation applicable to institutions. The violations found by the hearing panel for allegation Nos. 1, 2, 5, 7 and 8 do not demonstrate systematic breakdowns. They were isolated in both time and nature. However, the hearing panel finds that the facts underlying allegation Nos. 1, 2, 5 and 7 provide credible and persuasive information to support a failure to monitor violation.

That just proves they knew the question would come up and also proves they don't have the balls to swing the hammer.

Basically shy of academic fraud, gambling or providing hookers and blow there is nothing the NCAA is going to hammer any program for at this point.

Gutless, worthless cowards.

I've only seen that it ends in September. Where are you seeing elsewhere?

From the NCAA's report.

Three years of probation to run from the conclusion of the probationary period assigned as part of NCAA Division I Committee on Infractions Decision No. 567 currently set to conclude September 21, 2023.

Decision No. 567 is a different case that resulted in probation.

So does that include a postseason ban? Loss of scholarships? Or is it just a "if you do anything during these 3 years, we're gonna probably just put you on further probation"?

LSU is putting together a nice class right now..wonder if this will hurt them..if so.. please Collin Simmons.. come on down to Austin.. you too McKinley :)

Probation and the other penalties you described are wholly separate from one another. LSU already self-imposed the others.

I understand they "self-imposed" the forfeiture of wins but are they actually being punished by anyone?

For the reading impaired...please find an adult to read it for you:

According to this article by The Advocate, what that means is LSU must inform recruits in writing that the teams are on probation, detail the violations that were committed, publish information about the infractions and send annual compliance reports to the NCAA.

The ruling also states that LSU has to vacate all football wins from 2012-15, which are the years when former offensive lineman Vadal Alexander played. Alexander’s family received $180,150 from Our Lady of Lake hospitals through former CEO John Paul Funes.

Shortly after the ruling, LSU released the following statement:

The more than five-year enforcement process involving the LSU’s men’s basketball and football programs has now come to an end. LSU has always taken compliance with NCAA rules seriously, and the institution fully cooperated with the NCAA enforcement staff and then with members of the Complex Case Unit as part of the Independent Accountability Resolution Process. We are pleased that our current men’s basketball student-athletes will not be punished for the acts of others and that the Independent Resolution Panel accepted our self-imposed penalties for football. We are grateful to the members of the panel for their time and fairness. LSU is now moving forward along with our passionate fans supporting our current coaches and student-athletes in both men’s basketball and football.
