This was certainly the case here. These Titanic tours and these Space flights are becoming status symbolism so they can brag about being in a very "select" group to be able to do these things. It blew up in their faces this time though.
 
I'm disgusted by the whole thing but completely ashamed because I got drawn in hook, line and sinker to the media circus. I was committed to hourly updates when the "they're banging an SOS signal on the hull every 30 mins!!!" bullshit came out.
