ESPN "Red Wedding" today ...

When asked if he was a part of the layoffs, he responded, “It was just time to go. If you jump of the cliff were you pushed or did you jump?”
The open ended question in that quote is, "Was there a gun to your head telling you to jump"

The boldened part of your statement would seem to suggest things aren’t going well. On-air talent is something that should be generating income, not merely viewed as a chunk of overhead to be cast off when times need to be lean.

So, did you find what the profits were for ESPN?
Not going well <> going bankrupt. Read my links and my previous posts … ESPN is a bright spot for Disney. Clearly ESPN is under stress with the changing streaming world. Under stress <> bankrupt which has been my point all along.

ESPN is going to be looking for relief from the contracts they are signing right now. No longer are we in a spot where someday they are going to have contracts that won't ever see their full term, that day is today.

Not all contracts, but they are. now writing contracts big enough that they aren't going to be possible to afford before they are over.

It's all kind of murky at the moment. Now that ESPNs income is reported separately, we should get a better idea in the coming months

I think all of this is the start of preparations for them to pull the plug and go full streaming. That is when things get interesting as they will test what people will pay for live sports. I think we can count on that.

So, I’m assuming that the network lost a shitload of money, which- while maybe not going bankrupt, would still be difficult to describe as “a bright spot”. Disney’s lost quite a bit recently, and some of it is through poor business decisions.

Jesus fucking christ … do you not know what the word profitable means? First rule of holes, dude. ESPN is now a standalone division which means its numbers will be more available. But you going from bankruptcy to not a “bright spot” is a hell of a leap.

First rule of holes, dude.
THat's rich coming from a cunt like you. "Der aggy lost half their top rated class" you keep repeating and never back up.

Stop digging, aka repeated the same unsubstantiated lie.

Don’t know why you’re getting so pissy about it. ESPN is expensive to operate. I’ve asked multiple times if you know if it is profitable or not. “Bright spot” would seem to be a poor choice of description when it just shed a wealth of on-air talent.

Curious if Neil Everett left because he knew what was coming, or heroically left to save someone's spot.
He left because they told him they weren't going to extend his contract

Some of the names remind me of the Groundhog Day quote "Did he just refer to himself as the talent?"

I’m pissy because I’ve told you multiple times it’s been reported they are profitable. In the post you just responded to I told you they were profitable and yet you asked again. Don’t ask me again … asked and answered … multiple times.

“Bright spot” is what the Disney execs and business analysts are quoted as saying, not me. Companies shake up talent all the time. As I’ve stated twice already no one is denying they are in a very difficult transition going from linear broadcasting to streaming. There will be ups and downs. They will hire and fire. But to your original point they aren’t going bankrupt.
