OREGON to the B1G

Taking $10M less than a Big 12 spot and playing behind a streaming paywall doesn't make sense.
I'm not convinced the b12 isn't just a slightly better G5 conference at this point. They're made up of mostly the best G5 teams over the last 15 years or so plus some basketball schools. I think there's a reason Oregon and Washington would take lower pay from another conference.

Zero chance that Oregon and Washington turn down an offer from the B1G, so if they sign a GOR then it's because the B1G said no and people can spin that all they want but no idiot would turn down a legit offer to make the jump.

Even if Oregon and Washington don't get a B1G deal, AZ, ASU, and Utah should leave anyway or fade into complete irrelevancy.

There is one of two things going on:

1. The B1G has said no and schools are fighting to keep the PAC alive now.
2. It's all just smoke and mirrors for appearance's sake to show they had no choice but to kill off the PAC and hopefully lay the blame on someone else.

Am I correct in thinking the B1G is saying to Oregon and Washington ... "We'll take you on, but we're going to pay you half of what we're paying Rutgers"?

Lol. What a slap in the face.
A little sillier than Northwestern and Ohio State receiving the same payment. I'm sure Northwestern receives the same viewership numbers that Ohio State does when both play a common opponent like Purdue.

And I typed both sentences with a straight face.

As is with the current school rosters the PAC is not a greatly superior league to the Big 12 with Oregon and Washington in it. TCU and Cincy have recent playoff appearances.

Net to the P2 everyone else is a G5 conference for the most part.

I've mentioned that a number of times before.

If we're going to just throw tradition and moral awareness out the window, then why not cull from the bottom of the conferences as well.

Particularly when a school that is supposed to be your academic barometer has charges against it for homosexual abuse.

It's not like Northwestern really needs the B1G either.

Did Cincy show up to their CFP game?

Agreed. Signing this Apple deal just doesn't make sense for anyone besides Stanford, Cal, OSU, and WSU
I don't know how things work in Oregon, but WSU has been in very bad financial state in recent years and there is pressure not to let WSU fall to a lesser conference and further fall behind on sports income.

There are many factors weighing in for the BOR beyond just what is best for the schools football program. There is for sure pressure from the governor's office.

If the Pac stays together, a couple good additions solidify them again. I don't think the same thing is true in the B12 -- the B12 really has no big name teams. They have some teams that have had recent success, but the value of those teams is pretty low....see someting like this: College Football Value Rankings

The first B12 school on this list shows up at #29, then #30. Washington checks in at #19. The next one for the B12 is now Colorado at #38.

So they just have a lot of pretty low value teams in the conference. The pac has 5 current teams listed above Colorado.

They were just talking about that on Dan Patrick. There may be huge pressure on Oregon and Washington to take the Beavs and Wazzou with them. Doubt the B1G has any interest in the other 2 schools.

There are no additions to get and if the PAC streaming deal is accurate then what they have is only going to deteriorate at an accelerated rate. At least the B12 will have exposure on the networks.

I think there are. The ACC is about to explode. The SEC is for sure taking FSU and CLemson the instant they have a chance to.

It was fake news from the beginning

If the B1G takes OSU and Wazzou that will be the greatest gift to the SEC that they ever got.

Let's be real Oregon and Washington are lucky if they get an invite and have no leverage to make demands or put on pressure. If they even tried the B1G would be fools not to walk away.

If state politics ruin this opportunity for them then that is short-sighted on the politicians. It's better to have one P2 school in the state as an economic generator than none.
