PAC 12 Demise Pool

Fair thought. Wisconsin has long-standing trophy rivalries with Minnesota and Iowa; those are too big of a deal to break up unless it's 100% necessary - and it isn't. Northwestern is also a better geographical fit to join the division that includes Illinois and the Indiana schools.
They could also do a 4 smaller regional divisions as well consisting of 5 teams each that always play each other, and then 5 other "cross over" games per year.

Just came here to say, college football has gotten really stupid lately.
When you allow 12 teams into a playoff, having 20 in a conference is possible because multiple schools can still make it. CFB has historically been fun because of how exclusionary it really was.

It used to be Saturdays in the Fall, don’t bother me unless you wanna watch games all day. Now, I watch the UGA game and pretty well just keep up with the rest for gambling purposes while not really watching. You could probably count the amount of non UGA regular season games not counting midweek Fun Belt or MACtion on one hand last year, and it probably won’t increase this year. Last year was the first year ever that I watched more NFL than college football

Same. I used to plan weekends around this shit, the last couple years I get into UW games when it's convenient, and have the rest on for background noise.

This. College football, to me, ends when Wisconsin plays its bowl game.
The same people applauding the playoff (both 4 and 12 team) are now somehow annoyed by the obvious result of the choice.

I've never been on board with playoff expansion. At this point though, why not? College football as we knew it is done. Might as well introduce a legit playoff now.

Playoff didn't do this the PAC being inept for years did this.

Everything had to do with network money and if the PAC had been worth 70 million a team no one leaves. When you are only worth about 50 million a year and other conferences are worth 100 million the big dogs are going to leave when they can.

To get the money you need eyeballs and the PAC fanbases were grossly handicapped by crappy network packages, bad start times and being in a part of the country where CFB is not that big of a deal. The PAC and its teams could have marketed themselves better but instead made mind-numbing decisions that only made things worse. Except for USC, Oregon and rarely Washington, it was tough to get a PAC team to play away from the West Coast unless it was Standford vs ND and they desperately needed the exposure.

We could still be under the BCS and this would be happening.

Have you ever watched a podcast and thought what the hell did he just say?

12 teams, but how do you pick those 12 teams?

There's not enough football games to run power stats to compare say ... a 4 loss Texas team versus a 2 loss Boise State team.

Add in NIL and new transfer rules

It's gonna be a mess.

There aren't 4 teams that deserve to be there most years so after the top 4 it just doesn't matter because its participation placement.
