Gas Prices in you Area/Gas Buddy

Cost me $78 to fill up last night. Remember when America was a net exporter of crude oil? That was fun.

American is still a net exporter of crude oil and all petroleum products and will be for the foreseeable future.

Found some for 3.08. Last week it was 3.13. Prices dropping 5-8 cents most places.

This has never happened; at least in the way you're trying to suggest. Technically we still are a net exporter of oil. We export more oil products than we import.

But this isn't because of oil and gasoline, this is because of plastics and pharmaceuticals made with oil byproducts. We've never produced enough oil to supply our country with the gasoline it demands, which I think is what you're really suggesting.

When we're talking about barrels of oil we're not necessarily talking about refined gasoline. Most of the oil we're importing - the 8-10 million barrels you see on the green line - are used to produce gasoline and a lot of that comes from Canada. And that is mostly because there are different types of crude oil. Canada has a lot of light sweet crude, which is excellent for gasoline production. The US has a lot of small wells, which are more expensive to operate than the larger wells in Canada. So the economics of that mean it's cheaper to produce. It's very likely that as long as we demand gasoline, we'll always get some of our gasoline/oil supply from Canada because of that.

Michigan's gas always seems more expensive than the national average. Ours is hovering around $3.89 around here.

Over $4/gal for low grade many places in my area. Lowest is around $3.9

Around $3.77 in my area... But I'm in the touristy area. About 30-40 cents lower 20-30 minutes away from us, though. BIG drop! Kinda weird... :twitch:

3.15 seems to be the lowest around here. and as high as 3.49.

Need to find that egg thread. dem mudder fudders going way back up here.
