Prolly because it's more prevalent lately, particularly among young kids. Kids in Jr. High and Highschool have always had stupid hair, but it dipping into elementary school seems fairly recent. :noidea:

I've seen some cat ear headphones, but otherwise, those aren't a big thing here.
 
The other additive to the holy shit equation, is that the fucking Jr. High has no AC. Holy fuck was it a hot, stagnant turd in there last nite, crammed in an auditorium with a bunch a filthy ragamuffins.
