Several local radio stations will play nothing but Christmas music from Thanksgiving till New Years. Its awful

This particular concept is immune to black market dealings. It doesn't matter who plays the songs in public, they just can't be played in public. The songs themselves wouldn't be banned; they're just banned from being audible in public space. They could still be purchased and played privately.

Excluding the Christmas season, how often do you hear hymns in public?
Both of those are already very private.

And regarding Christmas songs, there's a heck of a long list of those that should be banned, too.
