You really believe that? Have you read any empirical studies that indicate(not prove) that? Illinois has some of the toughest gun laws in the country. We see these number of casualties weekly.

People simply don't get the mental help they need so they are left to camp out on the street and shoot up with drugs provided by the government. Governments don't even want to solve the problem because either they couldn't care less or lawyers will tell them they can't. Solve the root cause of the problem and then you may be able to scratch the surface.
