I going to go ahead and admit it every time a kid commits I wonder how much we paid him and every time a kid a decommits I wonder who is offering him more. Sure this crap was going on before but now it just seems to be an auction instead of kids going to schools out of a pure want to be part of that program.

It's not always the case, but many times this has been the case for decades.

Scrap NIL
Pool together a good chunk of the profits
Pay every NCAA D1 player equally
No taking additional outside money

The current NIL setup isn’t great, but the cat is out of the bag. How do we realistically fix it?

I don’t like it, but I don’t like unlimited amounts of money flying around either
I'm not wild about the money flying around, but I like it way more than some bum sitting at the end of Ball State's bench getting the same amount of money as Marvin Harrison Jr.

not just that.. but if they went this route.. what makes people really think some schools with hungry boosters aren't going to give certain players more money under the table to come play there??

so. why isn't Nebraska still recruiting Dylan Riola hard like they did before. he hasn't signed a LOI and its clear that recruiting never stops even if a kid commits.

Then we're just right back to where we started

The only way to fix this is to pay these guys and put them on a contract. Right now we have no salary cap, unrestricted free agency and no accountability.

So basically we need to split college football into a few more divisions, make a salary cap for each division, and put these cats under contract. Once they are under contract they can NIL all they want but most of it will dry up.

I would still let them transfer one time but the other team would need to have cap space to do it.

I think we would have to throw in that all scholarships are for 4 years so teams couldn't "process out players" and add some health insurance-type guarantees as well.

Otherwise, it's just going to the Wild West from now on.

None of that is ever going to happen. The NCAA will sooner put a cap on NIL earnings than go full minor league football. There are far too many logistical things that would need to take place that would essentially cause 80% of teams to just fold their football program.

Here are my issues with your response:

1. I'm no lawyer but I don't think you can put a cap on NIL due to the SCOTUS ruling
2. The NCAA will shut up or the big dogs will move on
3. Different rules for different divisions so schools could decide if they want to stay status quo and potential move down or pony up but I don't think we would see near the 80% attrition you think.

Nothing should stop Harrison from making his own deals but this takes schools out of the equation. If the schools all pay players equally that keeps a happy locker room and it stops schools from facilitating or inducing kids to come because our boosters do it better.

In its purest form kids with the noteriety should still be able to make more.

Congress can fix that if they so choose.

Oh. Wait. I wonder who has been saying “pay the players” for over two decades now on the different instantiations of these forums? Hmmmm. Wait again. Weren’t y’all arguing against it for those same 20+ years?

I think you may have me mistaken, i started on the hoop in like 2014
