GAME #1 THE Ohio State @ Rutgers | Noon on CBS

That was an ugly game. I'd bet quite a bit OSU will be dropping in the rankings. Rutgers outplayed OSU. They were just horrendous in the red zone and that QB they have is terrible. Rutgers had 3 FG's that were shorter than extra points. Props to OSU for keeping them out of the end zone though.
I agree the QB will be the reason the Buckeyes get 1 or 2 losses this year.

I was talking the Rutgers QB -- he was terrible. OSU's QB is a huge step down from prior year's too, but he is way better than the trash Rutgers has.

OSU was lucky it was only 16. Rutgers controlled the game, ran for 230 yards, had more total offense, more 1st downs, had 10+ minutes of TOP advantage. Rutgers just couldn't punch it in once they got inside the 10.

That ricochet pick 6 in the red zone changed the whole complexion of the game. That was a huge play for OSU.
Well Ohio St’s redzone defense is one if the best, greatly improved, from last year. So not sure how that is lucky. Rutgers is one dimensional and had to do a trick play for their 50 yard run. Ohio St played probably their worst offensive game all year and their two safeties and best CB was out. Not ideal but that’s why it’s hard to win week to week.

Of course it will depend on Mccord. The new 1st year starter. He has little mobility. Highly doubt he is the starter next season so we will see

They ran for 230 yards. So what happened on the other 180 yards? And the lucky part is Rutgers QB is TERRIBLE. He missed a WIDE OPEN WR who was all by himself, as whoever #7 is, got burned -- The QB missed him by 10 yards on what would have been a TD. Then they had the RB open for an easy throw in the OSU red zone, the QB overthrows him, it hits the shoulder of the guy going for the tackle and deflects to, I think, the same #7, who runs it back for a TD.

Rutgers outplayed OSU today.

Which is why they won... oh wait..
I didn't say they won. I said they outplayed OSU. It is why they had more yards of offense, more first downs, ran for 230 yards and had the ball for 10 more minutes than OSU.

Are you trying to say OSU outplayed them today?

28-7 in the second half

If Rutgers outplayed us why did they lose by 3 scores :headscratch:

Because you returned a ball that deflected off a shoulder in your red zone for TD, then scored a TD when they went for it at their own 18 late in the game. And they kicked three 20 yard FG's.

You guys outplayed them in the red zone. But a team doesn't have less total offense, less first downs, 10 minutes less possession, give up 230 yards rushing and then say they outplayed the team.

It isn't as if Rutgers put up a bunch of garbage yards and that is why they outgained OSU.

I see what you’re saying, before the pick six I would say Rutgers was playing better but after that happened it never felt like the Bucks would lose

Truly a tale of two half’s

The 2nd half -- OSU's defense made the big plays. Rutgers still outgained OSU in the 2nd half and actually put up most of their offense in the 2nd half.

They went 60 yards and then gave up a 93 yard INT for TD. Then they went 75 yards for a TD. Then they went 62 yards and turned it over on down.

OSU's defense stepped it up in the red zone and OSU's offense scored TD's instead of FG's.

That pick 6 was HUGE. So was the 65 pass to Henderson on 3rd and 9. Those two plays changed the momentum of the game.

I don't think Rutgers had a first down in the first quarter. The fake fumble turned the momentum and then the Bucks pulling the ridiculous 4 down punt run kept the D on a short field.

Rutgers ran the ball extremely well however.

yards is not everything man.

even without the pick 6 Ohio State scored 3 tds on 4 drives in the 2nd half and the other allowed them to pin Rutgers deep.

In other words they could not stop OSU from scoring on 75 percent of their 2nd half drives.

Rutgers RB is legit. He's an NFL caliber RB. Incredible power and balance.

Kinda reminds me of Pacheco actually. He hits the open hole and has a burst. Tough runner too

Reminder to OSU fans -- that NFL caliber running back that torched OSU. He had 26 yards on 11 carries against Michigan.

I do have to give props to Rutgers -- they hit a huge 70 yard pass play on their first drive against UM and were winning 7-0. I think that may be the only time this year we've been behind?!?

And yet Michigan beat them by a whole 5 points more than Ohio State while also getting a huge pick 6 when Rutgers was driving

Michigan had the game locked down by the end of the third quarter, while Rutgers had every triple chinned Buckeye fan sweating bullets in the early part of the 4th quarter.

it was 17 7 with 4 minutes to go in the 3rd as Rutgers was driving and threw a pick 6
