UM folds ... accepts punishment

Well...EXACTLY the problem they've unleashed. Anything the B10 commissioner rules he doesn't like, he can punish instantly with an unappealable ban.
Pettiti can go fuck himself and the the conference can follow suit. He was giving in to pressure from other schools. Joke of a conference

I see the dipshit parade has come to town. Do some research, dude. He was a POS but his wife was worse. Her own mother even came out and said she was the one causing everything.
That's a weak argument. You are better than that.

Did she beat him? Was she employed at a public university? Did her boss lie and cover it up as a favor to an old friend?

... and in my humble opinion that was bullshit (still more serious than buying a kid a cheeseburger). It would have been nice to beat Tressel (may have taken us another 10 years). Tressel seemed like an arrogant asshole.
He's probably one of the best examples of a human being at the HC position that you'll find. My wife worked closely with him on various projects at OSU when he was still here back in the 2000s. He was very gracious with his time and resources. He's beloved at Youngstown State in the same way.

Did she beat him? Yes, she was the aggressor in their fights according to her mother.
Was she employed at a public university? Who the fuck cares
Did her boss lie and cover it up? I dunno, maybe.

You're powerfully ignorant of the facts on this one man.

This topic keeps going around in circles. The reason it keeps going around in circles is the Michigan fanbase likes to omit words in the process of distracting.

The words "in-person scouting of future opponents" are those words being omitted.

Of course teams attempt to steal signs. Of course teams watch video to scout future opponents in attempt to gather information. Not a damn person here is arguing those things.

What Michigan did was "in-person scouting of future opponents".

That is a black and white NCAA rule that Michigan broke for over two seasons, and by all appearance benefitted from the scheme.

Call it a stupid rule. Call for headsets in helmets. Blame whomever for uncovering the scheme. Blame teams for not having their signs coded well enough. IDGAF.

It doesn't take away from the rule violation.

This is such a nonsense argument. Harbaugh took over a program that won 5 games the year prior. OF COURSE the time from the start of his time here is going to look worse than the current situation. Like...duh? This isn't the evidence you and other dummies think it is.

I am sure he is, but on this side of the border he was easy to hate. I don't waste my time hating someone is isn't good.

Understandably so. Even I can openly admit Urban was a total asshole as a human being, but Tressel was like the anti-Urban.

I'll say this. At the time, did I pile on Ohio State for the tattoos. Yes. Has my opinion changed? Yes. It's even kinda crazy in the deion sanders era of football, and buying rosters, to look back at that Ohio State issue. I don't consider those wins vacated for the record as well. What happened happened, the NCAA can't change that.

37+ Pages ... help a fella out

and Why is it a rule?

FFS

I can post it again and again, but you'll keep asking for it as if it's never been provided. One more fucking time in big letters.
"NCAA Bylaw 11.6.1, which states: "Off-campus, in-person scouting of future opponents (in the same season) is prohibited."

Take a couple minutes of your time and read it for yourself, instead of asking people to post it hundreds of times so you can act like you've never read it.

Michigan actually committed 2 violations in the scheme.

1) In-person scouting of a future opponent.
2) Using electronic means to video the future opponents sideline to steal their signals.

The "WHY" has also been posted numerous times. The "WHY" is because not all teams can afford to send "in-person" scouts to future opponents games, and can't afford helmet communication sets to send in signals.

By coaching staff. RIP to your argument right there. We did not, in fact, have coaches at other games. The video of the CMU game is no conclusive evidence of anything.

Using electronics to record has to do with in game communications. IE the rule exists to prevent you from doing what Houston did in the MLB.

Stop adding words with your mental gymnastics.

The words "coaching staff" are not in the fucking rule.

One more time, idiot..... READ IT!!!!!!

11.6.1 Off-Campus, In-Person Scouting Prohibition. Off-campus, in-person scouting of future opponents (in the same season) is prohibited.

Thank you this clarifies a lot. If someone goes to a game that is not paid by the university ... is the coach guilty?

If you can't afford helmet communications, get out of the game. Michigan did not pay for anyone to go to an opponent's game (that I know about). This doesn't mean Michigan is not culpable, but the costs seem minimal. Just like the concussion protocol, if you can't do it get out.

Right. And read on. Because the "who" that applies to is important. It applies to "institutional staff". It's clearly not illegal for me, a graduate/booster/ect. of Umich to go to a Michigan state game and record the game. The "who" matters here.

To be clear, no institutional staff scouted teams in person.

I'm not playing your mental gymnastics.

A Michigan staffer was sending people to over 30 future opponents games )in the same season) for the sole purpose of gathering video of said future opponents sideline signals. Michigan was using said staffers data to benefit from it in the actual game against said future opponents.

Who the fuck in the Michigan organization knew about it is a moot point. It was illegal scouting. It's in black and white of the NCAA by-laws.

It's the same logic as "well even though I paid that hitman to kill someone I shouldn't be guilty of anything because I didn't actually kill anyone personally"

It could have been avoided had he not lied to the NCAA, but yeah at the end of the day, it was stupid. Frankly I'm not even sure if what they did was even a violation at that time, getting tattoos in exchange for the gold pants.
