The Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona is going to be hosting the #8 OREGON DUCKS and the undefeated Liberty. I have read a lot, heard a lot about how this is some sort of consolation game for Oregon and how the Ducks deserve better. Well, I'll agree with that, anything but the CFP is a consolation, Oregon always deserves the CFP because that is where this program sets their goals and standards. We can all sit around and want Ohio State vs Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl, how awesome would that be for a lead-in to the B1G next year? Two future conference opponents battling it out in the desert. Or Oregon vs Missouri, a little future B1G vs SEC action, or Oregon vs Georgia, rematch of 2022 and Lanning and Bo get their revenge.
Sure, we all wanted to see that, but instead we got Liberty. But take a moment to realize what we are going to witness here. The Oregon Ducks play in the Fiesta Bowl on January 1st, this game will be the lead in game to the first playoff game, all eyes will see this one. Oregon has a great chance to continue to build it's brand and make a statement with a big win as those settle in and wait around for the playoff game.
Bo Nix has announced he will play in this game. Wonderful! As all these other QB's are opting into the portal, or not playing due to their fear of hurting their NFL stock, Box Nix is showing what a true teammate does and what a true leader does and is playing in this game. Honored and proud to see Bo Nix wear the Oregon uniform one last time and to go out a winner. This is how you go out, take note everyone. All those players opting out of their bowls, all those players jumping into the portal and ditching their team in their final game, a bowl game, take note because this is how a true leader handles himself. I am not sure how anyone can be unhappy or upset or annoyed or feel dissed when you have Bo Nix playing in his final game as a college player, his final game as a Duck. PROUD!
Oregon enters the Fiesta Bowl at an 11-2 record. How about a 12 win season in Lanning's second year? Again, building that momentum and brand. To finish the year at 12-2 would be awesome for what Lanning is building at Oregon. You always take another win. I don't care if we were playing in the Mississippi Free Health and Fitness Weight Watchers Bowl, you take a 12 win season any time.
The Oregon Ducks don't need your opinions. This team is going to go out with a win, going to go out with heart and going to send their leaders out the right way. It's been a hell of a ride and we got one more month to enjoy it and one more game to enjoy before we prepare for the next ride. Next year is going to be B1G.
