If they aren’t good enough to beat Bama with a backup QB, how are they ranked ahead of Georgia, Oregon and others? You don’t think UGA or Oregon would win?

Lol i've been saying this. So the committee is saying they think FSU with a backup is better than UGA since they had FSU ranked ahead of UGA in their final rankings. Their "criteria" is bullshit, it constantly changes to fit the narrative they want every year.

We can point at all sorts of inconsistencies in what the committee did, but one that doesn't make sense is that if you feel Bama is "better" than FSU, how can you have FSU between Bama and UGA? Again, 5th, 6th, doesn't matter. It was just a weird thing to do.
I am sympathetic to the committee ... they were given the impossible task. 2 teams were going to get screwed. For me, it's not as bad. We've had such a good run I can take it in stride. We aren't going anywhere and should be in the 12 team CFP 8-10 times in the next decade. But, damn, FSU fans are just miserable and I get it.

I think we all agree that 2 teams got screwed. What I am saying is that with 6 deserving teams this year, 2 were going to get screwed. Turns out it's you and us. Leaving out Bama or Texas would have been a screw job for them, IMO.
It is what it is. Heading to Miami, then get ready for a 12-team CFP where you will get to play through and win if you can.

Auburn has sucked for the past 5 years at least and we have still beaten the PAC champ twice in that period.

There are aberrations, but the top 12 will be pretty obvious. We've run enough simulations of the past to see that. If you lost 2 or more games you have no right to complain.

Other than Oregon the only decent teams Washington played were Boise State and a bunch of PAC teams that turned out not to be so hot.
Michigan at least played Ohio State and Penn State.
Don't get me wrong I would love for Washington to win it all but let's be realistic when throwing shade.

You raise a great point and why we have to go to 12. The NFL and other pro sports are typically 32 teams. You normally have enough cross-conference/division games so that the records reflect who really was better during the season. CFB has 132 teams and we simply don't play cross-conference enough. Hell, we have conferences with too many teams to know who is really good in the conference. The SECE used to be way better than the SECW, but that turned the last 15-20 years.
I'm with you - I think the B10 was weak this year and that their great defensive stats show how bad the offenses are. You think the PAC was really good, but might that be the opposite ... really good O's but that's because their D's are bad? Because you can't play enough inter-conference games to know, we really can't tell. Maybe Michigan is good, and Washington will get shown up when they face a D worth a shit. Again, we just don't know. We know you have a legit D, and O with QB1. We don't know about your O without QB1, but it would have been nice to play that out on the field. That's why you have to have a system that guarantees the champ gets in, and then enough at-large teams so that the conferences that have multiple good teams can enable those teams to get a chance.
I hope we are surprised each year when some teams that we didn't think were all that good actually turn out to be really good. This year it would be wild if Washington and Oregon really are better than everyone else, but we wouldn't know about Oregon because they are eliminated. What if in a 12 team CFP those teams run through every one? Now, I don't think that will happen often, but even if it happens every 3 or 4 or 5 years, that's worth some blowouts, IMO.

The good thing about the B10 is that with the addition of USC, UO, UW, and to a lesser degree UCLA, the big 3 - UM, tOSU, and PSU - will have to play a couple more teams that actually will test them.
Even better, with 12 slots, they won't take spots to the exclusion of others. To be clear, I am just thypothetically saying they aren't necessarily that good. tOSU should have beaten us last year, and maybe we find out they are better than everyone else, and UM, UW, UO, and tOSU put 4 teams in every final. With 12 we will get to see.
When I say I want to play it out on the field, some smart asses say "well you just did and lost." That isn't right. The regular season and the conference championships are what set the CFP field. I dare any other program to have to go through Bama, UGA, or LSU (2019) the last 6 years. It ain't easy and it sucks that was an elimination game. They were never designed in any system to be elimination games. Now all 13 games will be considered and then once in the CFP you get to prove it on the field. No getting held out because "all you had to do was beat Bama." Let's do it on the field in the CFP.
