Iowa lists job posting for new offensive coordinator.

The following is actually listed under required qualifications:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills as demonstrated through public speaking engagements, clinician experience, and/or use of effective and creative training/coaching techniques;
  • Extensive knowledge of and the ability to:
    • Utilize basic Microsoft Office productivity software including X.O.’s Thunder® software;
    • Operate effectively within a highly regulated team environment including effective organization and administrative skills.
  • A valid U.S. driving license and the ability to meet and maintain University of Iowa Driving Program standards

Basically, if you want to be Iowa's offensive coordinator you need to be able to speak in front of people, be able to use Excel and have a valid drivers license. I would have put in shows a strong play-calling ability but that is just me and might be asking too much of the Iowa pool or candidates.

Sounds like their last OC couldn't figure out how to use a computer or a car, so they explicitly included those things to the qualifications this time.

Scott Frost probably still has his license.

I think the DUI’s were all covered up.

I am the defending Eliminator champion so I am MORE than qualified but… ain’t but so much corn and snow that I can handle so…

What were they paying Brian ferentz? A salary like that makes my ability to handle corn and snow go up significantly

$850,000

Last year was $900,000, but he took a $50,000 pay cut on the new contract he signed last February.

Yep. I'll take two seasons of that, get fired bc I'm sure I'd be a terrible offensive coordinator and then go back to what I was doing and be a lot better off

Brian Ferentz has been OC/RB, OC/TE, and OC/QB since 2017.

For as long as I can remember (long before Brian), Iowa's offense has been one to lull defenses to sleep with boring play, then hit the tight end over the middle for a big play.

I don't know how much influence Kirk Ferentz had over his offensive coordinators, but he seems to be the commonality.

Junior is just the latest focus, and he is terrible, but the standard was set long before him by Daddy Kirk with OCs like Ken O’keefe and Greg Davis.

You missed the small print, most importantly, also a special connection related to Iowa and also possibly known as a slight case of minimal nepotism.

Scott Frost will most likely not take the Iowa OC job because he's probably happier in his current position... it boasts more opportunity for advancement plus all the McNuggies he wants:

I can teach driving on public roads and even some off-road techniques. I’m an effective public speaker and am adept at Excel (it will come back to me). If all I have to do is recognize defenses and call plays from the playbook, I can do that. It just that I don’t want to live in Iowa.

You make a valid point.

I made it clear on my application that I would be 100% remote.

Oddly enough, it didn’t disqualify me.

Ah come on Tinnie. You could jump out of perfectly good airplanes into those lush corn fields.

I can ride RAGBRAI every decade or two and be good with it.
