MONDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL Detroit Lions 🦁 @ Dallas Cowboys 🤠 on a Saturday Night edition of MNF.

Reporting doesn't even matter. He was covered by a WR on the line, so even if he were reported eligible he was covered and that made him ineligible.
there was the illegal formation you speak of & ironically illegal touching which they actually called right, but for the reasons @Guy Incognito points out. (not for the reasons they said)

Whoever this dumbfuck guy on ESPN is needs to learn the rules. What a dumbass.

And this idiot on ESPN SC just said the Lions won the game but the refs screwed them. LOL. Must be a former eagle or skin.

When I saw the first replay, I thought something looked weird about the formation, then they showed a closer look at just the OL and you can clearly see that 68 is lined up at LT, as there's just the LG between him and the C.

Leave it to the Lions to try and outsmart the other team and do some dumb shit to fuck it up.

Sadly since Dallas didn't lose, McCarthy probably doesn't learn that you don't throw repeatedly when you have the ball and less than 2 minutes with the lead. You run, then run, then run, then kick/punt. Use up the timeouts, Mike!

Is there something I don’t know that could make 68 eligible here?

Also don't forget Lions had the ball inside the 5 yard line and went for it instead of a FG early in the game. Got no points on that. Then 88 had the stupid fumble through the zone.

Goff stating 68 reported and 70 didn’t.

I see in the video 70 running up and the ref having his attention and literally pointing at him.

Only after then 68 subtly brushes his own chest while kinda trying to get the ref’s attention all while 58 is directly in the way.

Why do no analysts at all say that 68 was lined up incorrectly? Commentators are literally saying ā€œwhy would 70 report if he was playing right tackle?!?ā€
So, is there something we are all getting wrong here about 68’s position visavis eligibility?

Yup, he's covered. Two seconds before that you can see the TE was lined up to the left of the WR and in the backfield.
And again as @Guy Incognito pointed out. he was playing the tackle position. That makes him ineligible. Even if the formation was right.

No, they talked about it during the game that even with him reporting, he was covered and ineligible.

Correct. The rule is that if an extra lineman reports into the game as eligible he can lineup outside the LT and be the first to touch the ball. All the way around, 68 on that play could never be the first to touch the ball even if he had reported eligible. No clue why the talking heads aren't discussing this, other than they just don't know the rules. It's why Dan and Goff aren't more pissed, they've likely already been told there was no scenario where 68 could be the first to touch the ball due to where he was lined up. Dan tried to say something about only one player can report and I'm not aware of that rule. He is just covering his ass because he drew up and called in a play that could never be legal.

I mean, the tackle has to move to TE or FB or something, right? He can’t just stay at LT and catch an untipped ball???
I’m only asking because none of these post game commentatards are mentioning it. So, maybe some rules got changed and I didn’t know it.
One moron even talked about 70 lining up wrong at tackle all while implying 68 could still be eligible

Yeah we are seeing that there are a lot of people that don't understand the rules of the NFL, even if they are paid to talk about the NFL.

Honestly, I'm looking at that picture and even if 70 reported as eligible, I'm not sure he wasn't covered by the WR at the top of the screen.

The Lions Lioned the hell out of that 2-point conversion.

They are breaking it down and stating 68 WAS ELIGIBLE.

But this moron isn’t explaining it well

70 is definitely not eligible. And Goff stated 70 didn’t report in

@broncosmitty is saying you can if you are at end of the line. Said the center could be eligible if at end of line. I didnt realize this if true.

They are emphatic that 68 was eligible
