BREAKING: Saban Retiring

dont count out sark
He loves Sark..word is he wanted him to succeed him but.. Sark is happy at UT man.. He has them back on the upswing, deep donor pockets.. he's done wonders in just 3 years.. he has a chance to leave a legacy in Austin.
Ryan's is not 50/50. Maybe like 20/80. He has an up and coming team and riding ridiculously high at the pinnacle of the sport right now. He also spent most of his career with the Texans so they have the loyalty draw just as much as Bama
That guy is 100% a NFL guy.. he has a special QB and lives in Houston.. He's good.
The idea of Sark getting an offer at the top program in the sport just does not click in my head at all.

Wild times.

I read somewhere that Butch Jones is just like Saban

There was a lot of criticism about how he called plays in the Sugar Bowl though and I remember Saban sometimes ripping him a new one on the sideline. If he has say in it, wonder how he really feels about him as a HC vs his OC.
His refusal to give up the offense might be what keeps him from ever truly taking the next step. Going to the Saban school of management was clearly good for him, but I’m trying to think of some top level head coaches that also insisted on playing coordinator, and I can’t.

He came to Baton Rouge and rebuilt and restored the LSU football program and put them back on the national football map.

Actually Coach Gerry DiNardo did that. He came to LSU to take over a program that had six straight losing seasons and that had not been ranked in the AP Poll since 1989.

DiNardo came to LSU to coach his first season in 1995. After beating a few good teams LSU was ranked in the top 25. They went on to play and beat Michigan State in the peach Bowl that year.

The coach of Michigan State at the time: Nick Saban.

The next year, 1996, they started the season ranked 19th and finished the season ranked No. 12.

The next year, 1997, LSU started the season ranked no. 10. They finished ranked No. 13.

The next year, 1998, LSU started the season ranked No. 9.

So how does one rebuild and restore a team that finishes ranked? DiNardo inherited a team with 6 straight losing seasons...not Saban. He just built on top of what DiNardo had already started.

And after he left....they hired dumbassed Les Miles and he came to LSU and won a National Championship. Then we hired a shrimp boat captain and he came to LSU and won a National Championship.

I think maybe Saban was the one that was made into a Championship coach by LSU. The evidence certainly points to that conclusion.

there is a sitting national champion that coached under Saban who is available.. rested, tanned and ready to bring in a CFP title there.. on the cheap too since he's getting 75 million from his old job👀

...like Jay Wright, going out at the peak of his powers (though a bit older).

Hopefully Bama doesn't suffer the same fate as Villanova (for Bama fans at least).

To be honest, I think Kiffen has been waiting on this and thus why he's still at Ole Piss. All he's gotta do is knife Pete Golding on Twitter first.

Saban to Aggy. You heard it here first

They need to make decisions quickly. The faster they find a replacement, the less likely they have a mass exodus.

On the flip side, hope DeBoer is taking a close look at that roster.

I don't know if it's mentioned upthread, but I bet losing to a douche like Harbaugh in his last game really burns his @ss

Sure, run again, Nick. Ran away from Michgan St. Gets a home-and-home with a B1G schoolWisconsin) and run from the first game. LOL

measure your strength by your enemies. You have been an enemy of mine since you bailed on the B1G to go down to LSU.

But, you have done good. Enjoy the retirement.
