My Mom always cooked with cast iron. I never had, so I didn't know much about how to care for it. She lived with my wife and I for the last several years of her life and brought her cast iron.

The first time I used it, I was washing it and reached for the dish soap. She saw me reaching for it and I hear "NOOOOO!!" and she comes running into the kitchen (never seen a woman in her 70's move so fast lol). She then explained to me all of the years of seasoning that I nearly ruined.

Since then, I've become a true believer and it's about the only thing I'll cook with.

I have an All-Clad stainless steel skillet that I was going to use, but that's where I burned the garlic, so I put that on a back burner to cool and broke out the cast iron.

Obviously, hindsight tells us they made a poor choice, but to act as if it wasn't completely driven by analytics is wrong.

He never got a chance to give up a hit the third time thru. He gave up one hit the first time thru and one hit the second time thru. Mookie was coming up for his third time when they yanked him.

I just don't think its hindsight when a guy is rolling the way he was in a do or die game, and you bring in a guy that was struggling (a righty) against a guy whose splits are better against righties. Everyone at the time thought it was a bad or questionable decision except for the Rays.
