Well it's official: I have kidney cancer. Also, I do not have a horseshoe kidney, I have something called "crossed renal ectopia." This complicates the surgery a bit, but the doctor said he has experience with these. Surgery scheduled for 3/14, Pie Day. Gonna take all of one kidney and a slice of the other.
Best news of all: the nurse recommended I take 4 weeks off from work to fully recover

My fishing buddy had that about 25 years ago. They took out one kidney and that was it. No cancer had spread beyond that. He doesn't even do cancer follow ups any more. G'luck dude.Well it's official: I have kidney cancer. Also, I do not have a horseshoe kidney, I have something called "crossed renal ectopia." Thanks, that's what they've been telling me, most people have a good prognosis after the removal. Might have to do a few rounds of chemo or immuno therapy based on what they find inside, to be determined. My fishing buddy had that about 25 years ago. They took out one kidney and that was it.
