It's Throwback Thursday's thread of sarcasm and witty repartee

Yep.

North and South Dakota have the highest per capita case counts.
My parents want me to come for Christmas....that is starting to seem unlikely. Especially considering my two brothers think Covid is the same as a cold. At least if I stay home I can’t possibly have the guilt of being the one that killed my parents.

In all seriousness, there is supposed to be a whole new round of panic buying looming, and this time with a supply chain in tatters.

Buy your shit now, folks!
Kroger had Progresso soup on sale for a buck, so I loaded up some cans of that. Otherwise, I typically have a month or so of supplies that I need. Not worried

Here are the sites I've found for COVID info:

Testing

Hospitalizations

Cases

Yea, I have no doubt. I've said for almost 10 years that the lack of intelligence by people around here is the worst part about living here.

You can click "show ignored content" on the page with the thread list and it all pops up.

Then it reverts back to ignoring each individual post.

It's actually pretty solid.

Ummm....the old hoop did the same thing

I don't think that is correct. I understood from @KTg8trgrl, that when she puts people on ignore at tHoop, they can't read her posts. That feature is broken here at Hu's Plantation.

I certainly have enough supplies to last me a month, but I don’t like planning my weekly menu and then getting to the store and seeing ingredients that are out of stock.

Long term effects and such. Scarring of the lungs is never fun or ideal for long term health.
I don't put too much stock into that stuff. I think folks are finding issues they've always had because they're looking more closely because of COVID.

Fearmongering. The VAST, VAST majority of folks that get it have either no symptoms ever, or very mild symptoms.

Yea, I don't think she's right about that. I don't know of a single message board that does that...

Need to submit capital expenses for next year. What toys should I request

Not wanting to delve into the political aspect of this, but do I understand rightly that they're basing the numbers on tests now?
IL just got shut down again in my area because of positive tests.

Doesn't it stand to reason that people would only get tested if they were sick?

Reasonable. I think folks in their 70s/80s have about a 15% chance of dying if they get this stuff.

I'm not trying to tell anyone how to handle this, but I believe having as much real information as you can is beneficial.

We're doing Little Guy's baptism next month. Going to be pretty weird. Will probably have 11-12 people total in the room for the baptism itself.

Need to get out and get the stuff we need to do the outdoor entertaining thing. Had thought about renting a tent, but the party places around here are charging through the roof. Going to just buy a temporary garage at Harbor Freight, throw a space heater in there, and also use the fire pit. Hopefully the weather isn't too bad, would be nice if we had a standard 50-degree day instead of that polar vortex shit we had the year I redid the siding on my garage.

Positivity rates, yea.

And there have been people who have been tested in these threads, who weren't sick...

People who receive contact testing, typically aren't sick yet.
What about all the people who don't get tested and aren't sick?

How are we running numbers at random?

What about Justin turner? Should he be sentenced to life in prison?

But it sure would be nice to spend their last Christmas together with the family though, right? You can ensure that happens.

They are in their 60’s, but my mom has diabetes and my dad has high blood pressure. Both are overweight. Not exactly pillars of health.

I thought you weren't going to be political.

All I did was answer your question about why healthy people get tested.

Seriously.

If the brothers get the parents sick anyway, you wouldn't be able to spend time with them in the hospital, so why not one last holiday?!
