DickI'm doing my best to stay away from old people.
But if we have some sort of control over who and how often it kills, shouldn't we do what we can to do so?This thing's going to kill people until it burns itself out like it did in NY.
Fortunately, it's overwhelmingly old folks with comorbidities. Nearly HALF of our deaths have been from nursing homes. Folks in nursing homes represent 1% of our population.
I don't mean to seem cold-hearted, but we also can't be too bleeding heart about inevitabilities.
Yeah, but that ship sailed when we started stuffing COVID patients into nursing homes. But if we have some sort of control over who and how often it kills, shouldn't we do what we can to do so?
I guess I'm 41 and 11/12th's today. Very exciting.
Unfortunately, I think we do have to.We shouldn't accept "some people are going to die" if we don't have to
Yeah, but that ship sailed when we started stuffing COVID patients into nursing homes.
Frankly, I don't think a vaccine is coming. I think we have to get to herd, which I also think we're a lot closer to than anyone realizes.
That said, I don't really know what I'm talking about. I just like looking at numbers.
This is what Italy did.Shut things down, and the thing will retreat until we open up again, then it will increase.
I disagree in thinking that ship has sailed. I think there is still plenty that can be done to protect those who are vulnerable.Yeah, but that ship sailed when we started stuffing COVID patients into nursing homes.

In all seriousness, there is supposed to be a whole new round of panic buying looming, and this time with a supply chain in tatters.
Buy your shit now, folks!
vaccines take years to develop. It was a bit of a pipedream to say they are going to have one in just a few months. The vaccine trials aren't going well... at least not at the research facility we have doing one here...
I think better treatments are the answer, personallyYeah, but that ship sailed when we started stuffing COVID patients into nursing homes.

so what can we learn from them? What did they do that is causing this new peak? This is what Italy did.
...let's see how that worked for them...
Good job taking up for your livelihood.Said e commerce
They do make physical locations still
It's a thing
Meh.In all seriousness, there is supposed to be a whole new round of panic buying looming, and this time with a supply chain in tatters.

I have a friend that’s a high-up at Target that said TP, disinfectant wipes, soda, and canned goods are what they expect will be the shortage during this surge. Apparently there’s a shortage of aluminum cans.
And that they are anticipating more restrictions on restaurants in colder climates coming up, so food overall will have shortages.
